Homemade ALBA

Watchingwh8 asked about Alba. I thought I should pull up LegalEagle's "Homemade Alba" recipes: Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry!

Here they are for your enjoyment~

Hey Carol, Thanks! Believe it or not, I was looking for these myself!

As the weather is getting a little warmer here, I am busy making smoothies in my VM again.

Hugs,

Dawna

Thanks, guess I am a little slow catching on. :D

Hi Buddies! wave.gif

Debbie~ That's a legitimate question...! I'm assuming it's to add to one cup of water, but I'm hoping Dawna will see this and say for sure.

"DAWNA!.............." ;) :D

Thank you, thank you, thank you....

and bless you, bless you, bless you!

lol I have been looking for Alba shakes forever. My stores don't carry them. I've requested they get them, but so far no show.

I love a little chocolate drink now and then, and I'm SOOOO excited to find this recipe!

I hate to be a pest but a few posts ago someone asked if it was water that you add to this homemade alba mix and I am wondering if it is??? I would like to make a shake out of it but I am afraid if I add water AND ice cubes it will be too watered down. What kind of results have you all had? What seems to work best? TIA.

You're not a pest! That's a good question. I have asked Dawna/Legal Eagle (on the Maintenance thread) if this mix gets added to "one cup of water". I haven't heard back from her yet, but I am assuming that is correct.

This is one of those things where I think you'll have to "experiment" to find what makes your tastebuds happy!

I haven't used this as just a "plain" Alba shake. I have used it making "smoothies" and other concoctions. And it's actually been quite awhile since I have~

Let us know whatever you discover! We're all learning from each other!

lewormuth, Alba is a milkshake mix that used to be sold a long, long time ago--back in the dark ages.

This is great!

Back east in NY I found Alba everywhere (of course I've been gone 20 years, so don't know if it's as popular as it was). But out here in CA, I can't find Alba anywhere!

My favorite Alba was chocolate Alba sold in quart size packets. You'd mix it up with 4 *. water and have the best chocolate milk ever for 80 cals a cup. Anyone remember that?

I found the Alba availalble at NetGrocer. But it contains aspartame, so thanks for the recipe--I'll use that instead!!

What "age" are we in now?! LOL!

The Age of Aquarius?

Seriously, I haven't seen Alba anywhere in years, although I used to buy it regularly. I am pleased to have a substitute, and with the use of DaVinci Syrups, we can use the Alba-clone as a smoothie base and have a drink to our exact specifications. I am going to try using coffee as the liquid and a shot of caramel DV, to duplicate a Starbucks Lite Frappuchino. (Although the points fit into my budget, the cost of $4.00 didn't! Ouch!)

Hey, Cordy, how would you make an apple danish flavored cappucino? Davinci makes the SF green apple flavor but thought doesn't sound like it would be the right flavor. Whaddaya think?? Anybody?? Bueller?? Bueller?? :D

Katie, that's a challenge if I ever heard one! Green Apple would just taste wrong, IMNSHO, so I'd use:

1 cup leftover coffee OR (my preference) 1 *. cold Chai (or other spiced tea)

1 helping Alba Clone w/vanilla

A shot of cinnamon

DV SF Danish Pastry flavour OR a tablespoon-sized blob of FF cream cheese

1 small container unsweetened applesauce

Ice cubes as needed

Total: 2 points!

OR:

1 envelope SF spiced apple cider mix

1 helping Alba Clone w/vanilla

DV SF Danish Pastry flavour OR a tablespoon-sized blob of FF cream cheese

Ice cubes as needed

Total: 1 point!

BTW, I am now enjoying an Ice Capp clone for 1 point with:

1/3 cup leftover coffee (all that was left in the pot!)

1 envelope Swiss Miss SF w/calcium (Hey, it's a dairy!)

Ice cubes

1 *. water

1 teaspoon vanilla-flavoured instant coffee

1 shot of SF DV Caramel

Tres yummy!!!

Methinks you've been hiding your "recipe renovation light" under a bushel!...

At least I didn't know of your extrordinary capabilities!

Apparently Katie knew...! ;) :)
