SusieKew 0 Posted March 20, 2005 My daughter is a big fan of pine nuts and bought some a while back for a recipe. There is about a half bottle left, and she stored it with my spices in the cupboard. Â Should these have been refrigerated? The jar says 'no preservatives' so I wonder if they will turn rancid due to the fat/oils in them. Â Thanks to anyone who can tell me how to store leftover pine nuts! It's time to try defying gravity! I think I'll try defying gravity!
Frisky 0 Posted March 20, 2005 This site says they should be refrigerated or kept in a freezer until ready to use: Â http://www.coopfoodstore.com/news/Archives/arch_9_03/what_cook.html
cybergranny 0 Posted March 20, 2005 And, to carry it a step further, FREEZE everything! Spices, herbs, all nuts, flour, etc. etc. etc. We don't use as much of these things as we used to so to keep it fresh, freeze it! SusieKew 0 Posted March 20, 2005 Thank you for the responses. I figured they should be stored differently, but my daughter put them in the cupboard so I'll toss these. Â It's a shame they are so loaded with fat, because 1/4 C. yields 4 g. fiber. Comes out to 5 PTS! Yikes! Good thing I don't use them often. It's time to try defying gravity!
