crock pot question - should I?

Recommended Posts

I've visited several websites about crockpot safety where you warm water for 8 hours in your pot to make sure it reaches a certain temperature. Should I do this before using my new crockpot? Or can I assume that it's safe? I dunno, I worry a lot about these things, lol.

That's an interesting concept. I have never thought to check to see if my crock pot would get to a certain temp. I have just dumped my stuff in and turned it on. After work, things are hot and I assumed finished.

My curious, analytical side wants to check more into this and see what happens.

Thanks

It's not about the number on the scale - it's how great I feel about myself.

Yeah, the only reason I wonder if I should is because I picked up a generic-looking one at the dollar store. If it was a crock pot, I'd just assume it was safe. I think I'll just go ahead and use it, then check the temp of the cooked food.

I think I'm just being paranoid though.
