Kim-I just looked at your pictures and all I can say is WOW!! Congratulations! 2005 was definitely your year! I hope that you love the FIRM. I've been doing it for only a few months (off and on....on is my resolution!) and it's always hard, but it does get easier, if that makes sense.:)

BTW, I live in Tennessee too! We might be neighbors and not even know it!

I'm in. I'll work around whatever limits my arm is still imposing. I've been on vacation but work starts again tomorrow and so does my program.

It'll just be the ones that I have on DVD for now, since my VCR video looks like bad broadcast TV. I'm still waiting on DVDs from deepdiscountdvd.com even though they (say they) shipped them out a second time in mid-December.

Week of Jan. 1:

Sun. rest

Mon. rest

Tues. Pilates 30 min. done, BSS1 Cardio Sculpt done

Wed. rest (I am SUCH a slacker!)

Thur. BSS3 Total Muscle Shaping done

Fri. rest

Sat./Sun. BSS1 Body Sculpt + Ab Sculpt done

Sun./Sat. Pilates 35 min. done

Week of Jan. 8:

Mon. rest / band

Tues. BSS3 Complete Body Sculpting

Wed. cardio tbd

Thur. BSS2/3 Hips Thighs & Abs + Upper Body Sculpt

Fri. cardio tbd

Sat./Sun BSS4 Aerobic Body Shaping

Sun./Sat. cardio tbd

Week of Jan. 15:

Mon. rest / band

Tues. BSS4 Supercharged Sculpting

Wed. cardio tbd

Thur. Cross Trainer Cardio

Fri. cardio tbd

Sat./Sun Cross Trainer Strength

Sun./Sat. cardio tbd

Week of Jan. 22:

At this point maybe I'll have my DVDs for BSS2. (update: they're on order. From Amazon.com this time. Deepdiscountdvd (says they) refunded my order.

I will continue to update with what I actually do. I aim for 4-7 days of workouts. At least one day must be rest or very light.

Right now I'm working on earning an insurance rebate at work. To earn it I need to exercise 4x/week for 30 min. or more, for 10 of 12 consecutive weeks. Last year I earned it in 10 weeks. Also, starting Jan. 22 I am signed up for a fitness challenge at work as an "Ultra Challenger" -- 5 hours of exercise per week for 12 weeks.

Morning, buddies. I hope you all had happy holidays, and I wish you the best in the new year. Things have been insane around here. Most importantly b/c of my SIL who had to have a c-section on new year's eve (at 32 weeks) because of pre-ecclampsia. So, DH and I have spent quite a bit of time at the hospital lately. Good news is, they're all doing very well. SIL has to leave tomorrow, and I think that will be hard (to leave the babies there and go home), but we're just grateful everyone's okay.

I'm back to work today -- getting my syllabus ready for the new semester. Here's my plan for the week:

SUNDAY: rest

MONDAY: rest

TUESDAY: walk/jog, outside, 35 min :workout:

WEDNESDAY: 1 hr cardio sculpt (teaching), + 20 min recum bike :strong:

THURSDAY: walk/jog

FRIDAY:FIRM Complete Aerobics and Weight Training

SATURDAY: yoga + walk/jog

SUNDAY: cardio tbd

Just wanted to thank y'all for the warm welcome that you extended to me a while back. I don't do video's because of noise problems with the way my house is built and the fact that my DH works shift work. I have been working out 6 days a week without fail, but don't feel like I should be posting on this thread. Y'all Rock! Thanks for your wisdom and friendship!

Deborah, I don't have a heart rate monitor either, I have gotten along just fine without one. Some people use them to figure workout intensity for AP purposes but I've done fine using perceived exertion. For cardio purposes you can just take your pulse every 10 min. or so and know if you're in your "working" heart rate zone. You don't need an expensive computer gadget.

Actually, I happen to fall into the 40% catagory of proplr who have heart rates that are outside the "norm" of the 220-age formula. So a HR monitor would do many of us no good. I just use my "gut" for my workouts. I don't think about how many calories burned or how fast my heart is going specifically. I do use the percieved exertion to determine my Points Booster findings.

I just can't get back into the exercise swing. Mon, I did a WATP tape and it was so light for me. I got 1 point for a half hour of exercise. I was actually yawning. (Not bashing WATP, I really love it.) I meant to workout yesterday but I just needed to get the house clean. Me and two kids have bad colds. I will be planning a short workout today, I think JF Arms.

WOWZA after my first Firm workout yesterday my BUNS hurt real bad today LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Something I have read in several fitness magazines and that really helps to prevent some of the soreness is to do some moderate intensity cardio, such as walking briskly for 15-20 minutes after a workout. This will help dissipate the lactic acid build up in your muscles that creates the soreness. You will still have some soreness, but I have found that if I don't do it after a FIRM workout, my discomfort is infinitely worse the next day. Hope this helps!

By the way, I am new to this board but have been FIRMing for 2 years, and I still love it! I'll start posting my schedule next week when things are a little more normal at my house.

Ya know, my first week on the FIRM and I'm not as sore as I thought I'd be. I mean, I can feel the "burn" during the workout but unless I'm squeezing my muscles or something, I don't feel any real pain or soreness. Still, I feel like I'm getting a good workout. So I hope that I am.
