Another diet coke cake question!

Recommended Posts

Guest Krystal77

I made some cupcakes this week with Duncan Hines Devil's Food cake mix and a can of diet coke and OMG were they good!. Like a dummy, I totally forgot to figure my pts before I threw the box away. Can someone tell me about how many pts each cupcake would have??

TIA!!!

Thanks! I made them on Monday afternoon and have been counting them as 2pts but was scared that it's actually more than that. I'm in my once-a-month-crave-anything-chocolate phase and I'm about to die for chocolate!

If you make 18 cupcakes with it, they come to 2 pts each.

Also, try this.... one chocolate cake mix, one 15 oz. can of pumpkin, and a cup of water. 18 muffins...2 points each, very fudgy! We also did it with carrot cake mix and with spice cake. All of them were good.

You could also do white, yellow,or lemon cake mix with a can of diet sierra mist (or diet sprite I suppose).

Good luck!

Yes, a can of soda is 12 oz. This will be enough for the whole box of cake mix.

Do you all put any type of icing on them and if so what kind?:)

I've never been a big fan of icing so I didn't put anything on mine. My sister made this the other day and made icing out of FF cool whip and FF cream cheese. Not sure how many pts they would be doing that though.

I made this cake today. I used Dt. cherry/vanilla coke with a choc devils food cake mix. Then for the iceing, I used a small tub of Fat Free cool whip and a small box of powdered Sugar Free choc pudding mix. Whipped them together and put in fridg to set up. Then spead on cool cake. Very tasty.

The thanks for the recipe and the topping idea was mommaof2 , who told me how to make it.

She said it was 3.5 per slice. 12 servings. I counted it as 4 points because it was so good, I felt like I was cheating. :exercise2

ya'll enjoy,

That sounds delish! I have used the same recipe with

Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry Vanilla. I LOVE Diet. Dr. P!

I have to make sure to balance it out with water, though or

that's all I'd drink! Have a good one!

I tried this today and made a generic chocolate cake with a can of cream soda. I made 24 cupcakes which seemed to work out to 85 calories each, 2 g fat and .5 fiber which is 2 pts a piece.

I had one and my DH did also and they were good. Yay!

I tried this cake with a lemon cake mix and an 12oz of diet orange. I let it cool for about 5 min.

Topping was--1 small pkg of SF orange jello, 1 cup hot water, 1 cup cold water. Poke holes in cake and pour about 3/4 of this mixture over hot cake. Chill for about 2 hrs. Very good!!!

Could top with FF cool whip but I love it plain.

12 serving==4 pts

24 servings==2 pts.

Personally, 24 pcs make them way to tiny. I know I will end up eating 2 anyway so I just cut them in 12 pcs. for 4 pts each.

Thanks!!

I heard about this at this week"s meeting and went right home and made one. One can of Diet Coke and one package. Came out to 4 points per slice (though they said it would be 3 at the meeting - must be different boxes.) My wife loved it, I just liked it (probably because I hate Diet Coke.) With FF Cool Whip it was much better. Still, I have found other 4 (or 3) point desserts I like better (e.g. Smart Ones) but it is a good change up. I bought some lemon water and lemon cake mix to try that, I'll try the others I've seen here too.

The one with the pumpkin and water comes out fudgier and less sticky. Give it a try, and like I said, 18 muffins are only 2 points each!

1 box of cake mix...one 12 ounce soda. Mix and bake. YOu dont add anything else. The possibilities are endless. Points vary depending onthe type of cake mix and soda you use. Diet sodas wont add points...but cake mixes vary a lot.

and how do you work the points?
The cake mix should have the nutritional info for the unprepared mix on the side of the box. Depending on how many servings per package and how many you are going to use, that is how you count the points. My cake mix said 12 but I made 24 cupcakes so I adjusted the serving size for the mix only (since the diet soda doesn't add anything to it).

Try these:

1 box chocolate cake mix + 1 15 oz can pumpkin + 1 cup of water

1 box spice cake mix + 15 oz can of pumpkin + 1 cup of water

1 box carrot cake mix + 15 oz can pumpkin + 1 cup of water

1 box white, yellow or lemon cake mix + 1 12 oz can of diet sprite

if you make 18 cupcakes, they are pretty much all 2 points each

if you make more or less servings adjust by info on mix nutrition only and divide with a points calculator. making it into cupcakes is easier than having to cut a tiny piece or figure out how to cut it up.

Hi, has anyone tried this pumpkin variation on the diet coke cake? any tips on making fool proof? do i have to mix the pumpkin with the diet coke then mix it into the mix or just throw them both in at the same time? i made something pretty bad for dessert last night and will probably have to chuck it today and so i really don't want a repeat of that...my DH HATES when i throw away a lot of food, even when i tell him it comes with the experimenting of cooking new things. so yeah, any help/tips to prevent a disaster?
