Guest Tiffy_Sugar Posted April 26, 2006 Hey guys. I was walking down the cereal isle in safeway the other day looking for something different that I could have for breakfast and was sweet when I came across "cookie crisp" cereal. You know... the cereal with the dog on the box that says "cooooooookie crisp!" Its only 2 pts per cup (120 cal, 1.5 gms fat, and 1 gm fiber). You would actually get more for your money and a better "bang for your points" buying this cereal than the 100 cal packs! AND they have it in new peanut butter for the same points. YUM! Just thought I would pass on this little idea and get some feedback. Â Tiffany
mymojo 10 Posted April 26, 2006 I think that is a great idea for an "every now and then" snack. But, having a whole box at your disposal could be dangerous. I absolutely love cereals and have a portion control problem with them. A lady in my ww meeting told everyone she will portion out her cereal and nuts in those little snack zip loc bags on a Sunday for the week. That way she doesn't nibble extra bites when getting them out...and there is no preperation necessary at the time of a snack attack. Â Â didn't know they had peanut butter cookie crisp too. YUM. :wave:Kris: Proud mom of 3 little ones Started: 12/7/05 sw: 210:ugh: CW: 153 1st 10 lbs.1/11 2nd Star & 10% 2/8 3rd Star 3/15 4th Star & 20%4/12 5th Star 6/14 Total loss: -57 Goal:
Kate07 10 Posted April 27, 2006 Does the cereal actually taste like chocolate chip cookies? I've never tried it before. Sounds like a good idea, though! Guest Tiffy_Sugar Posted April 27, 2006 i think it really tastes great! I do have a problem as it is however with portion control with cereals. Its a good idea to put them into individual servings at the begining of the week! I will have to try this! Another good cereal for sweet morning cravings is cinnamon toast crunch and also, the one I am currently having in the mornings, trix! They aren;t just for kids! lol. 120 cal, .5gms fat, and 1 gm fiber per cup. Not to bad for a sweet fix!
becca0884 10 Posted April 28, 2006 I never thought of using cookie crisp like 100 calorie packs. Awesome idea! Also if you're looking for a good low point cereal, I eat Fruit Loops 1/3 Less Sugar. You get 1 1/4 cup for 120 cals, 1 fat, 1 fiber. Becca
goddessRu 10 Posted May 7, 2006 I thought of this but wasn't sure if the cereal tasted like cookies or what. But since you suggested, I might try it! I'm not big on cookies but I fix my chocolate/munchie fix by those 100 cal packs and they go by pretty quickly. Thanks for the tip. 206.5 | 202 | 150 Â Mini Goal: 5% 196lbs
Guest ShrinkingDaisy Posted May 10, 2006 Very good idea! I love to much on cereal---corn bran currently and sometimes the loops! I really haven't checked that many labels for more sweet options. Anyone else tried these and liked them?? What about the PB flavor?
Guest getnthin Posted May 10, 2006 Cereals are the greatest snacks. I always take some for my morning snack at work. That way I have something that will take awhile to eat as well.
tortoise123 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Barbara's Puffins. Absolutely the best! But I need to portion these or I can't have them in the house. Kashi Go Lean Crunch is also very good. hootowl 0 Posted May 12, 2006 That is a great idea. I used to eat the Honey Nut Shredded Mini Wheats. They are sweet, crunchy, a little salty and full of fiber. Thanks for reminding me how great a cereal snack can be. I am usually disappointed after I eat the little 100 calorie packs because I want more. jament 10 Posted May 12, 2006 OMG, I just happened to have picked up a box of this today. I totally went overboard on it. A handful here, a handful there, stuff some in my face. I can't handle cereal. I splurge on it more than I do anything else.
Shyjade 10 Posted May 12, 2006 Thanks for the cereal snack suggestion. I still think of sugary cereal as "bad" food and off limits; you've reminded me I can have something sweet and crunchy in moderation - still satisfying yet doesn't throw me off the program. Much to my DD's surprise, I think we'll go cereal and snack-bag shopping tonight! "Do", or "Do Not". There is no "Try". AmandaRose-83 10 Posted August 18, 2006 Awesome idea. Love the cereal, but I have never even thought of that. I am so addicted to cookies and milk(sorry for the food porn mention) so this would be great for me! Amanda  CW: ??? GW:
mirla 0 Posted August 19, 2006 Since several people have mentioned that they're considering buying this cereal if it tastes like cookies, I thought I'd put in my two cents on the flavor. Â I have never tasted the peanut butter, but I have had the chocolate chip. It tastes, mostly, of sweetened cereal. The chips are too small to leave any lasting chocolate-chip impression in my mouth, and the rest of it tastes very little like a cookie. It may be mostly the texture, which is totally wrong for a cookie. Most of the similarity is in the appearance, and in the sweet-grain flavors. Â Don't get me wrong, I do like Cookie Crisp and think it would be a great snack if you can handle the portion control, but it does taste less cookie-like than those 100 calorie packs, and they're not terribly cookie-like to start with. 3rd and final: 184/183/125 Starting date: 11/13/10 Â Previous: 190/123.5/125 - Start date: 9/14/05 - 10%: 10/29/05 - Goal: 8/19/06 - Maint until: January 08 176/122.5/125 - Start date: 1/16/01 - Goal: 8/4/2001 - Maint until: January
Guest grandmasugar Posted August 19, 2006 Honey Graham Oh's is my favorite sweetened cereal fix - 3/4 c is 2 points. I also measure mine out in ziploc bags due to a lack of portion control problem that I still have (does it ever get better?) Â Peggy
allison130 10 Posted August 23, 2006 Tiffy sugar- I was looking at how much weight you have lost and was so impressed!! I am also 5"4 but I weigh 133. I would love to be even 120. What an inspiration you are!
