Shepard Pie points

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I SOOOOO wish I had mastercook, but since I don't I would like to as if anyone would be willing to calculate the points on this dish for me. The recipe makes 8 nice sized servings, 10 moderately sized servings.

Shepards Pie

meat and veggie mix:

1 lb 96% fat free ground turkey (same points as in WW list)

2 large carrots, diced small

1 medium onion, diced

3 large palmfuls frozen peas

mashed potato top

4 large russet potatos, diced

2 Tbs I can't believe it's not butter

1/4 cup skim milk

gravy

1 can swansons reduced sodium fat free beef broth

2 tsp worcheshire sauce

1 tsp I can't belive it's not butter

1 tsp corn starch

1. Boil the potatos in water until they are tender and fully cooked. Mash them with 2 Tbs. ICBINB and 1/4 cup skim milk.

2.cook the meat on the stovetop until it is browned. Add the carrots and onions and cook until tender. Add the peas to the browned meat and continue cooking for the last five minutes.

3. In a saucepan heat up the beef broth and worcheshire sauce until simmering. Melt 1 tsp ICBINB and stir in the cornstarch. Whisk into the mixture until starts to thicken (add more corn starch if necessary).

4. While the gravy is thickening, heat the oven's broiler until very hot. Once the sauce has thickened stir it into the meat mixture. Pour into a 9x11 glass cassarole dish (the large one).

5. Spoon the mashed potatos onto the top of the meat mixture and spread evenly. Place in the broiler to cook for 5 minutes, or until the top of the potatos are lightly browned.

Sounds good to me too. Hate to nit pick, but over here in the UK, Shepards Pie has lamb and Cottage Pie has beef, what do you suppose turkey would be? Pilgrems Pie?
