Country Style Biscuts 1 pt each

I make these every Sunday for breakfast. This is a old time recipe, this was given to me by an older freind of mine and when she grew up they did not have alot of things on hand like we do today. So this is how they always made them. and sometime just flour and milk. Anyway, This is a great recipe.

 

Country Style Biscuts

 

Serving Size : 6 1 point each

 

 

1 cup flour, self-rising (WR band if you can find it)

1/8 teaspoon baking soda

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 cup skim milk

 

Add all dry ingrendients then add milk mix until you get a batter and whip them well and drop in pan. The mix will or should be a thick cake batter, if not add just enough water to make it whipable. bake for about 20 min and brown. serve while hot

 

My friend said the more you whip them the fluffy they will be. I whip mine for about a 20-30 sec or so. I know most of you add shortening and I use to but now I don't after getting this recipe(this friend is older and said when she grew up this is how the made the all the time). The only thing I changed is the milk I use skim instead of whole. If you can find WR brand flour it is worth buying. I know pillsbury flour will make a heavier biscut than WR. I like them light and fluffy.

Per Serving (excluding unknown items): 80 Calories; trace Fat (2.5% calories from fat); 2g Protein; 17g Carbohydrate; 1g Dietary Fiber; trace Cholesterol; 340mg Sodium. Exchanges: 1 Grain(Starch); 0 Non-Fat Milk; 0 Fat; 0 Other Carbohydrates.

I think I'd humbly have to disagree with you.

 

I use White Lily self rising flour and according to the bag a 1/4 cup is 100 calories, 0 fat, and 0 fiber .. so 1 cup is 400 calories.

 

1 tsp. of sugar (according to nutritiondata.com) is 15 calories, 0 fat, 0 fiber

 

Then the milk is 90 calories per cup, so 1/4 cup would be 22.5 calories.

 

Total calories is 437.5, divided by the 6 servings would come to 72.9 calories each which equals 1 point or 1.46 points if you round to two decimal places (but it still stays under 1.50 points)..

 

JMHO! :bcb_smile

 

.... Although I have absolutely no clue what WR flour is. I've tried to come up with the brand but can't figure it out ....

I think WR flour is W-R Flour, which is a brandname. I ran this through Mastercook and got 1.40 points.

I made these yesterday, and first off, I didn't have self-rising flour, so I made a sub. for it. Second, HOW in the world do you measure 1/8t??? And thirdly, what degree do you preheat the oven to?? Mine sucked, the dog got them!


I am not defined by the number, but how healthy my body is!
