Questin about current points versus old points plan

HI, new here!

 

I did the WW Winning points plan back in 2003 so I have all of the books and calculators etc that I bought back then.

 

I want to start WW at home again but need to know how the new Flex points plans are different.

 

Are the foods points values the same now as my old books? Also, how many flex points do you get per week.

 

I am just concerned that since all of the internet stuff is now about FLex points I don't want to be using a different book where the points don't add up now. I also don't want to spend money on books and calculators I already have if I can still use them.

well- it would be worth it to go to few meetings and get the current materials especially weeks 1-3.

 

I started on winning pts.

 

winning pts has ranges

 

the flex has a target which is the bottom of the winning pt range plus 2

the the flex has 35 weekly pts allowance a week above target you can eat anytime or how many of them you want- whether 5 a day or some other manifestation.

the flex activity pts works differently- under winning pts you could eat 4 a day and carry over the balance and eat them another day of the week.

under flex there is no banking and you can eat as many ap as you get but only on the day you get them.

they did change some pt values but not many. V-8 used to be 0, now 1, carrots uncooked used to be 1, now 0 (but cooked are still 1) and maybe a few others. So the pts book you have would not change all that much.

 

So it is not that different but all in all you can now eat more a day than before with e extra pts in your target (minimum) and any ap over 4 you get that day.

As far as I know, pretty much all foods have the same point value. I remember there being a 4g fibre cap in Winning Points (i.e. if a food contains more than 4 g fibre, you still only count 4), so that wouldn't be an issue you'd have to deal with.

 

With the flex program, you get your daily target points (compared to the point range you got with winning points) that you have to meet. Don't eat less than your target points value. Beyond that, you get 35 flex points you can use throughout the week.

 

I'm sure you've probably located info regarding what your target points are given your weight... basically it's the lowest end of the Winning Points range for that weight plus 2 more (you actually eat MORE on flex!).

Yep. They lumped all those points between the bottom and top of your Points range (5 per day) into one pile(35) and they call them Flex Points, and they got rid of the banking rules.

 

If you use to eat in the middle of your range, on Flex you would use 2-3 Flex Points per day. Flex Points and the Weekly Points Allowance are different names for the same thing.

 

And you have to eat your APs the day you earn them, instead of being able to "bank" them. But that's OK, they're to fuel your activity and so you need them close to the time you are active.

So, just to make sure I am on the right track here:

 

I weigh 184 lbs and am 34 yrs old so....

 

I can eat

*24 points per day

*any activity points I accumulate

*35 additional flex points throughout the week ( or leave some of them)

 

Am I on the right track here?
