Venison Recipes?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any good core venison recipes? My BF got 2 deer while up north hunting and now we have a freezer FULL of venison...steaks, chops, loins, roasts....we have it all. Any suggestions??

My dad used to make venison stew growing up. He would just throw cut up venison, carrots, potatoes, green beans, corn, anything really into the crockpot with beef broth. Yum!

Venison tenderloin...soak in buttermilk OVERNIGHT...a full 24 hours, if possible. (FF if you can find it, or LF or whole, it won't affect the points very much)

Remove from buttermilk, pat dry, rub with kosher salt and pepper. Cook on a grill til MEDIUM RARE. You will think you are eating beef tenderloin. One of the simplest, best recipes to use for the loin I've ever had.

You could soak some of the other cuts (not ground, obviously) in buttermilk, too, to tenderize them before baking or roasting in a conventional way. It will also take some of the "wild" taste out.

And, there are some great tips, here!
