need help with "enhanced" pretzels

Recommended Posts

Could someone who has the recipe builder get points for this

16 oz of ff pretzels (22 = 1 serving)

1 cup (yes cup) Orville Reddenbackers (sp) popping oil

1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing and seasoning mix

my mother in law makes these, claims they are still okay to eat, and it does make lots and lots of pretzels...but the oil has to be a killer and I don't know how to get to a recipe builder thing right now...

thanks

Marie

The points for 1 cup of the oil is 57pts,

(The oil is 120calories, and 14grams fat per Tablespoon, 16 Tbsp in a cup)

1oz pretzel is 1pts, X 16ox is 16pts

I'd count the powder as a point or 2

Total recipe 75pts

75 points divided by 16 servings 4.6pts an oz,

So really not that healthy

thank you, hard to believe you can take a fairly harmless food like pretzels and turn it into potatoe chips....

thanks again

One cup of oil is 56 points and a 16 oz. bag of pretzels is approximately 32 points. The dressing mix couldn't be much so based on the numbers above, one serving (about 20 pretzels) would be about 5.5 points. I'd round it off to an even 6 to include the dressing mix. 6 points is awfully high for a snack. You could probably make the recipe using 1/2 cup of oil to lessen the "damage." I used to make something similar using oyster crackers - "used to make" because they are so addictive!

I got my numbers from calorieking.com :)

I just checked the Ranch Oyster Crackers recipe on Hidden Valley's website and they only use 1/4 cup oil to 16 oz. of oyster crackers so you could easily cut the 1 cup of oil down to almost nothing.
