Fruit and yogurt salad....Tried ......LOVE it!

Recommended Posts

I'm really not sure what to call this. I got the idea from one of the trainers at the gym I used to attend. I can't believe I forgot about this! It is SOOO good!

1 lb. strawberries, washed, hulled, sliced/cut up

1 can DRAINED (in its own juice), crushed pineapple

16 oz. ff cottage cheese (or near to that size)

16 oz. ff plain yogurt (I buy the 32 oz and half it)

1 small package sf strawberry jello

Mix together and enjoy! Mmmmm.

Variation:

2 cans DRAINED mandarine oranges in place of the strawberries

1 small pakcage sf orange jello in place of the strawberry kind

This does look great!! My dh just brought home a crate of nice strawberries. I am tired of eating them plain already. This seems like a great alternative.

Thanks :bcb_LOL:

When I was growing up my stepfather would make something similar to this but instead of yogurt it had cool whip and then he used orange jello, added mandarine oranges and chunk pineapple with marshmellows added in. My kids call it foo foo salad. so I made this last night... OMG, it is wonderful. I used strawberry kiwi jello, fresh strawberries and crushed pineapple (drained) I have to say, I like it better with the yogurt then the cool whip and marshmellows. I highly recomend it!

I am bumping this up. Another excellent recipe. I am not sure which one I like better - the strawberry one or the orange one.

You really cannot taste a "cottage cheese" taste when you make this - there are too many flavors going on. I have made it with FF ricotta cheese one time because I didnt have cottage cheese. I think you would need to make up for the cottage cheese with something. I put the yogurt and cottage cheese and jello in the food processor and then hand mix in the fruits. It's really good.

I made this for a bbq we had on Saturday and it was a hit! I think it was a little too sweet for me, though, so I may use less jello next time I make it.

Oh - I made the orange variation. :D

I made the strawberry one - there's still leftovers for today. It is an awesome recipe, though! Next time I'll add more fruit, it was a bit too sweet for me!

Thanks for sharing!

I am bumping this up. I made this again this morning with strawberries. This time when I made it, I used a small can of crushed pineapple. I used the big can before and it was too much. Thanks again for this wonderful recipe.

My yogurt and cottage cheese were dated for 8-9-08 so I think it would keep until then. It does make a lot and I do remember throwing out some of it the last time I made it because it looked a little funny. I dont remember how long it took though.
