Freezing Pizza Dough Question

Recommended Posts

I have no idea if this is the right place, but hopefully someone can help...

I was thinking of making some whole wheat pizza dough this weekend & would like to freeze it? I’ve seen frozen pizza dough at my local grocery store, but it’s not whole wheat & I’d rather make it myself than buy it anyway. Plus, I could thaw it during the week while I’m at work & obviously wouldn’t have time to make homemade dough. Has anyone ever done this? Do you know where in the rising process you freeze it? I thought I might try bread dough, too, if it worked well. Thanks!

I have never made it fresh. I have bought Trader Joe's fresh WW pizza dough and frozen it. I did not like the results at all when I made the pizza. The fresh whole wheat dough was good but the frozen stayed flat and too hard when I baked it and I never froze it again. Now I buy their whole wheat boboli-type crusts and make it for my husband.
