Macaroni vs. Pasta Salad

Recommended Posts

What's the difference between the 2? In the Complete Food Companion, it lists 1/2c macaroni salad as 6 points and a 1/2c pasta salad as 3 points. The macaroni/pasta salad I had today included elbows, mayo, onion, celery and egg. I counted it as the 6 points. Any ideas?

Well when I make pasta salad, I don't use mayo/milk/butter. I use a italian dressing style mix (a bit of oil, water and seasons) Maybe they mean THAT kind of pasta salad?

You're probably right! I didn't think of Italian dressing vs. mayo! Thanks!!

I think it is the "dressing" plus pasta salad typically has vegetables. Since they are bulky (think of broccoli and how much space it takes up in the cup), it would have fewer points per cup (or 1/2 cup).
