give a shout-out
to the best meal of the day, I thought we could start a new week! Jump in, make a pledge! EAT SOMETHING!

I feel much better when I include a healthy amount of protein in my breakfast...reduces cravings throughout the day. So I'm hopping in, with a personal challenge of protein in my breakfast.

Today:

coffee with 2 half and half (1)

Alvarado St GF Sprouted Rye Bread (2)

Sunny side up egg cooked in olive oil spray (2)

1 t real maple syrup (0)

Held me through an hour of power yoga!

Protein heavy breakfast work best for me. Here's what I make (and really, it doesn't take that much time).

For DH and me (i.e. two servings, but my portion of the eggs is less).

2 whole eggs (4pts.)

2 egg whites (0 pts.)

4 oz. Schneider's FF ham (2 pts... yes, really, according to the calculator and nutritional info on the ham)

1 banana (0 pts.)

Salsa for the eggs (instead of ketchup) 0 pts.

That means I get scrambled eggs, ham, and 1/2 a banana for only 3 points and it sticks with me until lunch. (And it leaves me lots of room for my later meals)

Linda... just don't quit! Ever!

I'm always pressed for time in the AM. Would love to have more protein. But, 99% of the time my breakfast is the same. Two packets of Quaker Lower Sugar Instant Oatmeal at 6:30 am. 6 PointsPlus there. (Used to be 4 pts on the old program.) And, then a banana around 9 am. Zero PointsPlus. (Used to be 2 points on the old program.)

Luckily, most days, I'm eating lunch at noon. So, the lack of protein in the AM usually doesn't impact me.

Mon Dec. 13th (St. Lucia Day)

Coffee

Milk (2)

Lucy bun (5)

Banana (0)

Total PP: 7

I know I'll be hungry in a little bit (I have some cheese and more fruit), but Lucy Bread on Lucy Day is an important family tradition, it's a once-a-year food. If I didn't bake and eat it, the sun wouldn't come back ever. So, you're welcome!

I had my typical breakfast this morning

2 packets Quaker Bananas and Cream Oatmeal - 7 PP

1 Motts Applesauce cup No sugar added Natural - 0 PP

1 Nesquick Chocolate Milk 8oz - 4 PP

So 11 PP total. I'm trying to work on getting in my milks and fruits/veg - I normally come up way short on milks and some on fruits/veg. I'm not a big breakfast person and don't like eggs or pork products very much. Once in a great while I will have a bacon and egg taco, but it's rare. I'm getting sick of Oatmeal, but it's easy to fix in the mornings.

Any ideas for new breakfasts? I try to do between 8-12 PP for breakfast since I get 43 a day.

I was Breakfast Challenging myself last week without posting. Why not join the party?

Last week I did pretty well, I've been setting aside the portioned quick-cooking oatmeal and whatever extra (like walnuts, pre portioned) in a little bowl, and it literally would take me 3 mins to add the milk and fruit, splenda, and stir stir stir. Then I would eat as I was getting ready. Worked REALLY well :)

This week I plan on making Apple Streusel Muffins, a recipie I saw in Fitness Magazine. I plan to have that with a hard boiled egg + fruit for a fully balanced 6pp breakfast.

I'd say just read through this thread! Are there things you especially like? Sometimes I just eat last night's leftovers.

Breakfast this morning - I wanted to try to get out of the oatmeal rut I'm in .

2 Slices Sara Lee Cinnamon Raisin Bread - 6 PP

1 TBSP Parkay margarine - 2 PP

1 Applesauce cup, no sugar added - 0 PP

I might have another slice of the bread if I'm still hungry after I finish my applesauce, as I have extra points to use up.

KrisD - I like starchy sweet for breakfast - breads, sweet oatmeal, biscuits and jam/honey, etc. Not big on protein, eggs make me sick when I eat them by themselves. My breakfast pre-WW was either a banana while running out the door or two toaster strudels with frosting. Needs to be something I can fix and eat in minutes since I'm normally busy in the morning.

Weds 12/15

You know what happens when you buy too much fruit? It goes moldy. I had to clean the mold out of my fruit bowl, toss the green fuzzy oranges and all their green fuzzy friends, and boogie out the door to proctor an exam. :-( Also I did NOT have any of the Munchkins I got for the class (so I don't know if that counts as a fail or a win)

Breakfast:

Coffee and Milk (2)

Lesson learned--it wouldn't be the end of the world to keep granola bars or something on hand that won't spoil....

At least I got to have an early lunch.

Today was a repeat of yesterday - Cinnamon Raisin Bread with spread and applesauce. Had an extra 2 slices of the bread as I was really hungry and didn't want more fruit.
