What One Thing have I done today to advance my cause?

Recommended Posts

Today I rode my Stationary bicycle for 15 minutes. I have not been on the bike in a long time preferring to walk outside. However even in Sunny California it rains and is quite cold outside. So I have vegetated. I think the bike is too noisy for the house and do not want to annoy my DH.

But starting now too bad. I got on the bike and did only 15 minutes I can do much more but my fake knee hurt so I decided to stop. I deliberately stopped at 15 because that's how I started so many lbs. ago.

I am working long hours tomorrow and Wed so may not get to the bike but at least it's a start.

So what ONE little thing have you done today to advance your cause?

My 15 minutes went to shopping.... I hung around the fresh food area stalking celery :bcb_bigsm.

I have been trying different things and find that simple variations in types of apples to be entertaining to the taste buds (bananas are also quite appealing :bcb_salut)

After a very difficult moment today (car accident), I finally decided to go home to make grilled chicken and broccoli instead of going to McDonald's.

There's a Zumba class in an hour at my Y, I'm going (even if my feet are all thumbs!)

I am at three busy meetings today but I am going to RIDE my bike for another at least 15 minutes tonight. My DS flies off to Maine tonight for a month and that will be tough for me. He's also scouting out jobs there so pray someone buys his book and he gets to stay here and be rich.

I bought a balcava (I think that's what it's called.) I'm going to run outside all winter (with my doctor's approval and encouragement.) It's getting a little rough on my face out there. My scarf is not cutting it. I shouldn't have cut that corner when I was buying my gear. live and learn. I can't wait to try it.

Angel - Sorry about the accident. That stinks. Good for you not adding making a bad food choice to the trauma of the day.

CW - or anyone else that wants to pitch in, what kind of apples are you liking best right now? I was really into Honeycrisp but they've almost disappeared from the stores, and I hate to waste a money on testing a lot of yucky or mushy apples!

Today (like most days) I logged on to BCB to read what other WWers had to say. It's inspirational and helps keep me on track.

So far, this morning, I also:

-- Got on the scale to help keep informed and accountable,

-- Paid attention to my clothes (rather than my former oblivious dressing),

-- Took a 10 minute walk outside in 18 degree weather, then came inside and did the elliptical for 20 minutes,

-- Enjoyed a healthy breakfast to start the day off right, and

-- Embraced a positive mindset, which is probably the most important thing I can do to advance my cause.

Thanks for asking. Best wishes to all on advancing their cause today ...

Kos

I actually prefer Granny Smith apples over any other kind.

Today, I did several things, actually: I weighed myself (down 2 pounds!). I used my rollerblade for at least half an hour. I ordered white rice instead of fried with my Chinese food, and I got chicken with broccoli instead of something fried--and then I only ate half of my meal and am saving the rest for lunch tomorrow.

I took my big dog out and did a fast 40-minute walk even though it was pitch black with ice-rain (rain right at the freezing point). Oh, I sure didn't want to do it... but I took a flashlight, bundled up, and put one foot in front of another until I had done the route.

I like Jazz apples, but they're only out for a short time and quite expensive. Ambrosia are good, too, but a little soft. I chop up Granny Smith and add them to my homemade Greek salads.

Linda... just don't quit! Ever!

I am leaving now for a walk. I have about 45 minutes and can get 3 miles in easy. Then shower and off to work. Starting next week I have Fridays off so That will be a good day for me to concentrate on me for once.

Food going good and I am 3 above goal but I feel it. Need to get back to goal.

Have a good day all.

Lately I like yellow delicious apples also. Softer ones are good for me. I do not like to fight my food. And not too tart. Funny how all of our tastes are so different. I guess that's why there are 1000 different apple varieties.

I went to my meeting even though I knew I gained due to falling spectacularly off of the wagon over the holidays.

I bought a new three month tracker for a fresh start.

I stayed away from the birthday cake in the office this morning and ate my grapefruit instead. One more vote for gala.

Linda - I ran in 22 F last night. I was patting myself on the back, but you win with the freezing rain. As my 16-year-old DS would say, "What a beast!" (That's a good thing. :) )

Ya know, it's really hard to just zero in on one thing. No one thing stands out for me. I've been on plan for breakfast & lunch, I've got my activity in, I'm planning what I'll be picking up at the grocery tonight.

I did notice while looking at some of the stats I keep that as my weight loss has slowed lately I have been using closer to 100% of my APs. I think I will drop back off on them some. I can do without them & not feel deprived. I've been spending too many on "junk" anyway. I'll continue to use all of the WPAs though, and just some of the APs.

re: apples, I had a gala the other day and it was good, I will get more tonight. I got bummed on Red Delicious a while back when I bought a batch that were mushy. Hybrids, I haven't seen yet!

Apples: I think some are mushy now bc they've been in storage. They are pricey now too. I did buy a bag of red delis. just to have something on hand. I try to buy the local crops (we live near several orchards).

What I did for "my cause" is buy carrots and celery and cleaned them and prepped for the week, fast snacks. I also recommtited to my strength goals. Good sweaty workout

too cold, icy for outside walks but will try for the dogs' sake

I went for an hour-long walk/jog this afternoon with my new dog! I also had lentil soup for lunch instead of something fattening like I normally would have gone for. I'm slowly making the changes I need to reach my goal weight, and I'm loving every minute of it. :)

I ate my way thru a weekend at a spa. I did exercise. I am back home now and today was totally OP. I walked three miles tonight and by Friday my jeans are not going to be snug any longer.

Thanks for finding this thread.
