Guest sodacracker

late start - too many requests from kids who we inadvertently brought up to think that we are there for their bidding  :bcb_grin

Having a rainbow smoothie then off to spend that day doing errands but all fun stuff and hosting a meeting at my house tonight with some great people, so all in all a nice end of the week.

Your plans today?

L: yogurt and shredded wheat with diced apple and tea (can pack this in a thermos)

S: shredded cabbage with fig vinegar

D: curried chickpeas on quinoa

S: milk and shredded wheat

Teg - mind sharing the recipe for snobby joes? Or is it the one on this board for Core sloppy joes? We love those and eat them quite often.

It's a PD day here. I haven't even had breakfast yet!! I got the boys dropped off (Lucas skiing, Nathan at a friend's) and am now heading to the mall with Claire (eek).

Not sure what my plan is today......

- have to finish the last of the core oatmeal pancakes and also the coleslaw.

- Jeff made chicken & rice last night so we'll have it for dinner tonight

- my new filling should be firm enough that I can *finally* have an apple!!

it feels like a snacky day - I just stopped in at a friends and am using her computer to check in to stop myself from eating stuff here that costs points ( which I do not have).

There is a market nearby so my plan is to buy some kind of specal fruit that seems like a treat. They also have some prepared salads and a protein pack with vegtables and hardboiled egg. Not such a fan of commercial chicken products after DH went on an agricultural tour and saw what happens to male chicks, commecial egg and chicken production. :bcb_sick::bcb_yuck:

Kimberly, a PD day at the mall! how fun! :bcb_wink3

Hi Mickee -

H's Snobby Joes

Soak and lightly precook your lentils. Drain and rinse.

Dice a bunch of baby carrots, celery, and onion. (I did about a cup of each in the chopper)

Throw it all in the crockpot with your favorite sloppy jo sauce (we just use i bottle BBQ sauce) for about 4 hours on high. Add extra water as needed because it cooks down quite a bit.

(I did it on the stove on low)

I like to lightly mash some of the lentils so they aren't quite the same shape anymore, but that's not for me- just for those who want to pretend they are really eating meat :)

Serve on bread (or not- it's pretty good by the spoonful).

We like to have seasoned potato wedge fries with this one.

I also added about a cup of bulgar halfway through since it seemed so thin and I wanted it to thicken up. While it was good in it - really didn't add or take away taste, I now know that it would thicken up just fine if I left it alone on low with the lid off, or had cooked it in the crockpot.

Let me know what you think.

I served it to my family on soft potato rolls one night, made dh a quisidilla last night with a little cheese, and have had it cold over salad greens a few times. It is SOOOO good - hot or cold. Tasty. Filling. Healthy. I had it the first night on a roll with salad greens right on it...mmmm.

I would have some extra bbq sauce handy to coat the rolls, maybe.

Hey, is barbeque sauce a power food???

PD day?? Do I need one? Sounds fun if it means being out and about for some one on one time with a loved child.

Teg:

Thanks for the recipe. I will save it for a day when dd is not here. She does not eat lentils in any shape or form. Ha! ha! No barbecue sauce is not a power food, neither is sloppy joe sauce. That is the main reason I stick with my core sloppy joes. I will give yours a try sometime.

Can I just tell you that there is NO LENTIL taste to these. Well, that is what dd said and she was a NO LENTIL girl also.

Off to check out the Core snobby joes.

I just did a google search on PD Day for the USA crowd. It's Professional Development Day. I was thinking maybe PayDay!

The breast biopsy reveals fibrocystic breast changes, negative for cancer. Follow up in 12 months with another mammogram and ultrasound. Good news! The leg pain is improving now every day. I do have to get a lab drawn today at the hospital. DH will have to drive me after he gets home from work.

B. Kiwi, oat groats, almond milk

L. Red lentil and artichoke stew, orange, green salad

D. Veg soup, apple

Donna: That is great news on the biopsy and glad the leg is getting better. Take it easy until it is back 100%.

Thanks for doing the google on PD day. I had no idea. pay day sounded great to me.

Mickee- Yup, professional development day. The kids are off school. The teachers are working on report cards. I survived the mall and am now headed to rec swim at the aquatic centre!

Soda- Not fun at all. I was like a toddler on a long car trip-- are we done yet? are we done yet? are we done yet?! LOL

I thought you meant "POWER DAY"...filled with Power Foods...;)

Just taking a break and saying "hi". Got so much accomplished. Sent an obituary and picture to the newspaper by e-mail. They took credit card info over the phone. We never even saw each other...but the woman had known my mom years ago in another city and had really liked her! :) Small world.

Busy, busy, busy today.

Soda, you're not going to like hearing this but my vertigo was worse last night. I spun and yelled and grabbed for DH. Everybody says "Stress related". I agree. But to me it means: forgetting to exercise, not eating the right foods at the right time, not getting enough water, not getting good sleep or enough sleep, being overstimulated from so many obligations...EQUALS stress-related.

Hopefully this week-end I will get my routines going again.:salut

May you be happy. May you be well. May you be free from suffering.

Carol you are so right. I experience sensations of vertigo when I get too tired and if I am tense.

I take very good care of my sleep and make sure it is a priority otherwise I cannot function. Hope you get some sleep tonight.

When is your mom's funeral?

Friday afternoon. I wanted to have enough time so we didn't feel pressured. Every moment is getting filled up anyway ~ :)
