Springtime Challenge 2011 anyone?

Recommended Posts

I'm having a little trouble gaining traction with this idea over in the Men's Only forum so I thought I'd toss it out to the larger audience. Afterall, who doesn't like a challenge?

My idea was to have a weightloss challenge for Spring (which in the US starts next week and ends mid-June). Pick a goal, pick an interim goal if you like, and go for it. I'm using the chart below for peoples' weigh-ins. This is a long term challenge so this thread can help folks stay motivated too. You could also think of this as the pre-beach season challenge lol.

I'll pledge 20lbs to the challenge. I think the max I can sustain is a 1.5lb/wk average over 14 weeks so that should be doable. I'll keep a running tally and add up the pounds!

Melinda, I forgot to say something to you. NICE attitude about your teeny-tiny, insignificant gain! It truly is 'whatever' so don't let it bother you. There could be a hundred different reasons for it so no need to sweat it. Just keep doing the right things and the weight will come off!

Yes, I forgot to follow up over here and all I have to say is ditto. I've so often let things like that discourage me but the fact of the matter is so many things play into it that it's better to brush it off. If it become a pattern, then it's time to re-examine.

Duh! I just realized I forgot to figure out a goal...I'm going with 14.2 pounds from today's WI, as that will bring me to my 10%.

I weighed in on Monday to a 0.5lb loss. I will take it as we were gone the previous weekend on a mini-vacation. I journaled and stayed OP but the scale spiked up over 5lbs when I got home due to all the sodium/water retention. I worked *really* hard last week and was happy to get things back on track. I anticipate a fairly good WI next week (am going to wait until the end of the month to get a final tally) since I've been at the same weight for 3 weeks now. It's time for my body to have a big drop!! :bcb_up

Kimberley, nice job working so hard to get a loss! I do find that my body works that way...I'll get to a point where I'll plateau for a few weeks and then all of the sudden lose 3lbs. Nice when that happens. It's good to enjoy vacations and not stress about the scale, too. Sometimes we need a mental break from it all!

:salutReporting in for duty. One of my BCB buddies landed a kick squarely where it belonged, so here I am. I need to get serious about getting these last 10 pounds off. I've been sitting on the same weight (plus or minus a pound or two) for nearly four months. With the exception of today, I will weigh in on Mondays for this Springtime Challenge (usual WI is on Wednesdays, but I'm a daily weigh-er by habit). I would love to hit goal by July 1.

Hi everyone-

I'm joining a little late but I need this right now so count me in! Since late January I've been on track, then off-track.... sometimes even in the same few minutes. I'm not used to struggling like this and it's really getting discouraging.

My goal is to get down to 140 lbs before the official start of summer. It's the last 10 lbs though so it seems much like it's war... me against the last 10! My body may have won the battle so far but I will win the war:bcb_mad2

:wave:Welcome, Monique... good to see you join in on the challenge. Like you, I'm hoping to hit my goal by the official start of summer (or at least July 1). Just grit your teeth and hang in there... lots of us have had on/off moments... sure wish I could tell you the secret of sticking to it. I don't think there is one... just don't ever give up, and eventually you'll hit goal.

Here is my progress for the week:

OK I'm in. I am six pounds above goal and as lifetime and an employee this is not good.

March 29 ...... 175

My goal is to get to three below goal which would be 166. I think my goal could/should be lower but right now this is where it is. My face gets too thin below 166.

CrescentBeach: Thanks for the encouragement. Looks like we have lots of similarities.... live on the westcoast, struggling a bit, same start weights and the same end goal. Good luck to you too.

Peggy: Good for you for joining the challenge. Good luck getting back to goal.

No progress to report for me on the weight front. I don't plan to weigh-in until Moday.

Nice losses Melinda and Phobos! I'm glad to see Monique and Peg here too. I know that sometimes losing those last few pounds can be as challenging as needing to lose 30 or 40lbs!

I had a nice loss this week. I know that my morning workouts are paying off and it feels really, really good!

Great job keeping up with the challenge everyone. I'm sorry I haven't posted - I've been in DC all week and just got back tonight. It was a challenge but I stayed OP and maintained my exercise (4 / 5 planned nights but for being on travel that's good) regimen so I'm pretty happy. I'm feeling good and am looking forward to my weigh-in on Saturday, as well as riding my motorcycle this weekend since the weather is absolutely fantastic in SoCal right now.
