Springtime Challenge 2011 anyone?

Recommended Posts

I am closer to below goal but not there yet. I am 2.6 above goal now and want to be three below or more. When I started this challenge I was 7 above so have done well really. I am working pretty hard at this and am changing things up a bit. Doing fine. Glad to see all above me doing so well too.

Glad to see that everyone is having a good time of this. This past Saturday evening I was a little naughty but I did it with full knowledge of the potential consequences. Not sure if there'll be any long term affect this week but if there is there is and if there's not there's not and that's all there is to it.

Cheryl - glad to see you here.

Peg - WTG being sooo close to goal! You'll get there before you know it.

Matt - I love your post about being aware of your eating/drinking consequences! It's so good and healthy to be aware of what we're doing and not just putting blinders on and hoping that nothing will come of it. It's good to live life and enjoy it all, including over indulging once in a while.

Kimberley - You are doing great!! We'll just have to extend the challenge if it happens to be one of your slump weeks. Ha! :bcb_bigsm

I'm redoing this week and changing my results. I don't know why, but every Monday when I WI for this challenge, my numbers are down (and they really WERE down... I even checked later in the day), but by my official WI on Wednesdays, I'm back up to where I was the week before. I am now going to update my Spring Challenge results on Wednesdays.

Good thing I didn't rejoice on Monday... I knew it wouldn't hold...:bcb_yuck:. At least I'm not going up... I now doubt that the April 4 result was real... I do know that's what the scale said, but I must have been completely empty of glycogen (or whatever that is called).

Starting Challenge Weight (03/22/2011): 154

March 22 - 154 lbs.

March 28 - 153 lbs.

April 4 - 151.9 lbs.

April 11 - 154 lbs.

April 18 - 153.5 lbs.

Don't get discouraged crescent, you'll get there. I've run into the same problem time and again. I'm feeling good about myself as far as the mirror goes but probably will be bummed out based on the scale. My little tummy is fading away slowly but surely but for whatever reason I'm really noticing it this week.

For example, I had to get a new badge at work because my old one was expiring soon. Here's a picture of me from my very first day, 30 June 2003, and a picture of me today, 27 April 2011. So from a month and a half after my 23rd birthday to two weeks before my 31st birthday. Heck of a difference huh?

Linda - Just think, you're doing a great job of maintaining! Even though that's not what you want, it's still a really good thing. :bcb_smile

Matt - Wow! Youl look so different! That is an amazing change. Good job for keeping with it.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It's funny, at one point when I started losing weight I remember looking in the mirror and really thinking my brother was looking back at me. But I guess this is the person I was always supposed to be, just had to find me in there (sort of like how I believe Michaelangelo described the process of carving statues out of blocks of granite - the statue was always there, he just had to reveal it).

Ok so I mentioned in a few places that last Saturday I was naughty - it left me at a points deficit this week but with some hard working out I seem to have beat my expected outcome and posted a really good loss. Sometimes the body needs a shock to the system to help get past a plateau so maybe that's what happened here, though I wouldn't say I was on a plateau as far as my loss goes the past few weeks. In any case, I'm now down to 179.4 lbs, losing 3.2 lbs this week. So that probably means next week will be underwhelming or a slight gain, and that's life. What's really great is that I've now past my intermediate goal of being 180 lbs or less by my birthday week weigh-in, two weeks early (my birthday is 12 May). So go me!

Starting challenge weight: 191.6 lbs - 12 MAR

13 MAR: 190.4 lbs - 19 MAR - -1.2 lbs

20 MAR: 188.8 lbs - 26 MAR - -1.6 lbs (- 2.8 lbs total)

27 MAR: 184.2 lbs - 02 APR - -4.6 lbs (- 7.4 lbs total)

03 APR: 184.6 lbs - 09 APR - +0.4 lbs (- 7.0 lbs total)

10 APR: 183.4 lbs - 16 APR - -1.2 lbs (- 8.2 lbs total)

17 APR: 182.6 lbs - 22 APR - -0.8 lbs (- 9.0 lbs total)

24 APR: 179.4 lbs - 30 APR - -3.2 lbs (-12.2 lbs total) ** 180 lbs or less by week of 8 May goal reached! **

Wow Matt some achievement! Nice job.

I am on the bike. Doing well two from goal now so "legal" in WW parlance. Working hard but I can feel my portions drifting up again. Stopped that by getting the food scale out again.

Ah the old digital food scale...best invention ever, I use mine for everything. Making breakfast, packing my lunch, prepping dinner, baking...

Down 1.5lbs this week. Have now reached the half-way mark for my challenge goal!!

Peggy, we've got 2 digital scales here. We use them all the time!!

Matt, great loss!!! I have a goal for my birthday at the end of the month but it's ambitious. Have to keep trying!! BTW, I think you may be a birthday twin with my sister, May 12, 1980.

Cheryl, great way to turn things around!!

Linda, I hope you have a good number mon&wed this week!!!

Jen, I think we might end on one of my wright loss weeks. Time will tell. I'm halfway done halfway in so it would be nice to hit the goal before the very last week!!!

Yep, you got it! Had a neighbor down the street with the same birthday also. May 12th also has Bruce Boxleitner (Babylon 5 CAPT Sheridan) and Tony Hawk!

It looks like this was a really great week for everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone does during this week.

cheryl - great job! That's the way to do it! I know that I have had my ups and downs in the past but having this challenge and everyone's interest has really helped me stick to it and stay motivated also.

anaem - sorry to hear that you've been under the weather. I know I have often taken the "calories I consume when I'm sick" stance many a time and what I've learned is that it's OK as long as you don't develop bad habits. And that can be really hard for some of us. But I'm glad to hear that you're looking forward to getting back to the gym. I know when I'm sick I often push myself too hard though and go back to working out probably too soon before my body's fully recovered. So just try to be aware of how you're feeling and don't do something that'll set you back again.

Hello challengers! I'm steadily losing and it feels so wonderful! I think that working out consistently and tracking faithfully has been the key to my weight loss so far (no surprises there!)

Kimberley - nice job being 50% of the way to your goal. Awesome!

Montana Man - Congrats on joining a 5K race. You're maintaining nicely.

Peggy - I'm glad you're back in compliance and not "illegal" anymore! :bcb_grin That food scale is a nice thing - keeps us all honest.

Hope I didn't miss anyone. Have a great week!

Some TERRIFIC losses reported here this week! Great job everyone...I love visiting this thread and seeing how well people are doing... sure does keep one motivated to keep on, even when things have slowed down to a snail's pace (if I could think of anything slower than a snail, I would change my metaphor).

I am HAPPY to report... drum roll, please... a LOSS this week! And, I believe that it is a REAL loss, as the scale has been down for the past few days.

I know it doesn't seem like much, but considering that I have been hovering around 153 since the end of November, I would be thrilled with ANYTHING! I still believe the 151.9 was an anomaly...it was just there for the moment I was weighing in for this challenge... went up the next day.

I'm not going to hit my goal of 145, but if I can slip below 150, I will be dancing for joy in the streets!

Starting Challenge Weight (03/22/2011): 154

March 22 - 154 lbs.

March 28 - 153 lbs.

April 4 - 151.9 lbs.

April 11 - 154 lbs.
