How many posts are needed?

Recommended Posts

I was just curious. I have several online friends who post on the other threads. How many are needed to be able to post to the other groups? Or to even be able to read them for support and motivation.

Thanks!

Hi! I'm new too! I would be delighted to fill out my profile, but the system says that I'm not authorized. I joined in June, but had problems with the site and couldn't use it (don't get me started with how dumb I was to be an early adopter of a cloud-based Chromebook!), and while I've done my intro post just now, it still tells me that I'm inactive. I need you guys! So please help if you can

About 15 posts, or less if you also fill out your profile information.

OK thanks. I have noticed that a lot of people don't fill out their profiles, but will be happy to get my post count up a bit!!

Yea - you don't HAVE to fill out your profile, it's just a way to get 'points' - which is what the new promotion system is mostly based on. There a lots ways to get to points which ease up the restrictions on posting. We just like to make sure new users are here to participate, and not just spam links to promote their websites. We'll ease up on new users once we have better ways to control forum abuse.

Kathleen,

The ranking system should automatically promote you after you've gotten the required 'points' for posting, and you've logged out, then logged back in. Promotions are automatically run every few days as well - if logging in and out does not work. You can fill out your profile once you've been promoted to the first rank of 'Private'. Profiles were also being abused to spam links, thus new users are no longer allowed to fill them out right away.

I am a returning member of BCB. I have made 16 posts (now 17) and have updated my profile and I still cant get into the other posts. This is very discouraging :(

Hi NeeNee, welcome back! I am just now seeing this. My apologies for not helping you out sooner - It looks like you've already been promoted automatically. Congrats!

Wow, I haven't been here in years and I'm shocked that I remembered my login!

Now that you've posted a couple of times, it should happen automatically the next time you log in

Sure! The way it works right now,

- You need 100 'points' to access the buddy groups

Here is the link on ways to get 'points' for promotion

http://www.healthdiscovery.net/community/xperience.php?go=earn

You have 59 points

http://www.healthdiscovery.net/community/members/86973?tab=xperience#xperience

(see 'bootcamp merits' tab)

You can get 10 points for each field of your profile that you fill out. 25 points for a blog post. 8 points for starting a thread. Ect

You can access and post in all of the forums, other than the buddy groups until you have 100 points.

Maybe it does seem a little too strict?

I may lower the points requirement some time in the near future.

What do you think?

What would you like to see here and or be involved with here that would keep you coming back, posting, and telling your friends about us?

I'll be spending more time here within the upcoming months, updating and making changes to the forums.

I'd like to know what new members are looking for when they find this site, and try to cater to a better experience for them, and you.

You can send me an email if you prefer to admin@healthdiscovery.net - I don't always see forum posts immediately

I saw a new reply here and realized that we have changed how many posts are needed for new members to gain access to the rest of the forums.

It was obviously frustrating.

As a different approach, I have been manually promoting members when I see they have made a couple of posts that are not 'spammy'. I sometimes won't check in for a few days, so patience is still required. We'll eventually get back into the automated system, when I can fine tune it to work in a similar fashion.

Thanks all for continuing to keep things going here, and welcome to all of the new and returning members!

I was also trying to access the groups. It said I needed 5 posts and to fill in my profile. Maybe I didn't add enough to my profile. I just filled in location information. I will also try logging in and out to see if that makes a difference.

Sorry - I am just now seeing this! The groups have already opened for you.

If anyone else finds that the groups do not seem to be opening after you've posted - Please use the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of the forums, and use the form to submit a request.

You are good to go now, your account has been activated. I apologize that it takes so long - the automatic promotion system is broken.

Hopefully no one has had any issues with this in a while.

The automatic promotions had been fixed some time ago. I also just made a slight adjustment.

New users are still required to post before gaining access to the buddy groups and user profile features.

You have to make 3 sensical posts to fully activate your account.
