New Picture Uploads! ALPHA TESTING

Recommended Posts

The Image Upload System is Currently Enabled

Update - URL Upload for Attachments are now working with HTTPS sites

04/11/16

If you have more than 100 posts

You can now upload pictures directly from your computer or mobile device to the forums!

This new feature is in the ALPHA TESTING phase.

Meaning, it's working! But may have still issues that will need to be sorted out.

Keep checking here to see how we are doing.

You can help us get it right by trying to upload your photos!

Use this thread to let us know how it works for you(if it works for you) - and we will improve it from there!

It is currently only available on our Full-Site theme, or IOS6+ devices on our mobile theme(maybe)

Here's how you do it!

on our Full-Site theme (which is terrible on mobile devices right now, I know)

Use the 'Insert Image' button on the editor, just like you're used to with url images.

Except, now you can choose upload photos from your computer or mobile device.

imageinsert.gif

- Then just locate your picture, and upload it!

- Double click the picture in your editor to adjust its display size, alignment, and other properties.

-----------------------------------------

-The "Attachments" system is ALTERNATIVE way to upload pictures.

(found in the advanced editor, by clicking the paperclip button or 'Manage Attachments')

It works now! If you upload images as attachments, they will be display as a mini gallery at the bottom of your post.

as_attachments.jpg

Per post, you can upload 10 images as attachments for the mini gallery.

----------------------------------

Known Issues

This section will be updated with current issues and allowed photo upload properties.

Things are working much better now! We just wiped out a large portion of problems we were having.

- No Copy/Paste Image From Computer

You can NOT copy and paste images from your computer, into the editor...

It makes the forum Gods very unhappy. So just, don't do it. Copy and paste from other websites should still be ok.

- Upside Down / Sideways Photos - see this thread

We like to keep everyone on their toes...

And apparently their heads too!:bcb_LOL:

I am aware of the issue with the new picture uploads coming in from mobile devices being upside down / sideways when viewed from non-mobile or other devices. I call it a bug, but our forum software provider calls it 'intended', and won't be providing a fix...

It's basically an incompatibility with our forum software(which is getting a bit older now), and Apples newer software that embeds orientation information to your photo when you take it.

As a temporary solution - supposedly, you can take photos that our forum will recognize as right-side up like this:

attachment.php?attachmentid=74&stc=1

Since our forum software provider is not intending to fix the issue, I will be working on a custom solution for us similar to what most other sites do to recognize the orientation info, and display the pictures properly. It's just going to take me some time!(weeks) So your patience is greatly appreciated.

I really dislike Vbulletin sometimes, and this is one of those. We'll get through it though, we will make it work right!

I've re-enabled the automatic re-sizing temporarily to test out an update.

If you encounter the unresponsive editors again, Please! let me know right away so we can revert the change.

Those without issues, If you want to test the uploads again - they should be working without restrictions.

Again, thanks.

Not a problem at all - you're welcome.

I see pictures uploading! Woot!

Anyone with the unresponsive-editor syndrome?

Uh - well. Other members complained of it earlier. I re-thought the wording on that one and changed it - lol

Hmmm... Using another non-admin account, I can't see your pictures. Only one, from a post in another thread that included the attachments at the bottom.

The one on the Delta thread... So I am the only one that can see the pics?

Up late tonight pushing a mandatory security update to the forum software. Did not go smoothly.

I see no inline-pictures now. But do still see ones attached as attachments. Going to try another here also

Working on this more. Unable to recover attachments made before pushing the update to the forum software. Hopefully we find a solution to that before they release next update, which will probably be soon. We were pretty far behind with applying that one.

But anyways. Now that we're running all fresh files for Vbulletin, and some other little changes. Lets try this again.
