  2. Thanks everyone for your suggestions on how to handle my trip. I really do want to have a great time and not be a Martyr about having to "watch" what I eat. I just have to remind myself that wearing a Petite size 6 feels better then any food can actually taste. Denise... what kind of Puppy did you get? I had a Shih Tzu that was my "son" for 19 years, and a 12 year old, 3 pound Yorkie that was a rescue after having 5 homes. Both are now in Doggy Heaven and I really miss them. I'd really love to have a female Apricot Malti-poo puppy, but I think I'll wait till I retire and have the time to spend with her. Between work, the gym and dancing.. I'm rarely home and it just wouldn't be fair to have a dog that would be alone most of the time. Kimberly... so sorry about the allergies. Wish I could offer some advice, but I just tough them out since none of the meds seem to work for me effectively anyway. I can rarely breathe through my nose. Cindy... sounds like you're back on track and hellamotivated. Laura... Welcome to DF Jen... like everyone else suggested.... more protein. Laurie... I'm so jealous of you running. I used to love to run but since my knee surgery I can't. I never found out how you liked Zumba? Have you been going? I've already checked out classes in Seattle and Honolulu. I'm going to try to get to at least one at each destination. I'm a "Zumbafied" addict. I decided not to push my luck and risk reinjuring my rib half way through the healing. I'm skipping Turbo kick boxing tonight. I'm going to go to the gym later this evening and do the elliptical while I watch Dancing with the Stars. GO GILLES !!! I haven't started packing yet, but I've made a list of everything I'll need so I don't forget. It's going to be difficult packing for 2 different climates. Seattle's wet and in the 50's, and Honolulu is sunny and in the 80's. I haven't even researched Portland or Vancouver yet. Have a good evening everyone... Peace out
  3. Good Morning DF. With only 5 days left till we leave on vacation and 2 and a half weeks into healing my broken rib I sneezed several times in a row yesterday afternoon. I felt absolutely no pain so I decided I'd go to Zumba last night. I've really been taking it easy since I hurt myself, just walking and holding on to a "noodle" in the pool and kicking my feet in all different directions. It was raining all day so I couldn't go out for a walk or to the pool so I thought I'd give it a shot. I felt no pain throughout the class but I'm sure I didn't give it 100% effort. After class I did the elliptical machine with no arms for an hour. My T shirt was wet with sweat for the first time in 2 and a half weeks. It felt great !!!! My plan is to try Turbo kick boxing tonight. If I feel any discomfort at all I'll quit. I'm half way through the healing process and my rib is now fused, so I think I'll be OK. (I just can't tell Ed, he wants me to "take it easy"). My food choices have been great. Up until my injury I was really hitting it hard. It was effective though, I managed to lose 20 pounds in the last 9 weeks (since we planned the Hawaii, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver vacation). I didn't reach my goal, but I'm well on my way. All Ed has been doing is talking about the restaurants he wants to go to on our trip, and I keep telling him I want to come home in the same clothes I leave in. "NO MU MU'S". He's a real "Foodie", so I'm really going to have to make some wise choices where food is concerned. I hate not being able to prepare my own meals, but I'll do the best I can, and try to get as much physical activity as I can. Any suggestions of how to handle this trip will be greatly appreciated. We'll be gone 14 days. Have a great day everybuddy !!
  4. Just checking in.... been spending more time at the gym and less on the computer. The scale finally moved under the 140 mark. Yeah !!!!! I was hoping to get back to goal before my vacation, but unless I get lipo in the next 3 weeks, that's not gonna happen, but oh well, at least I can get back into some of my old clothes. The most I can hope for is another 5 pounds if I'm lucky. My Hawaii trip has really helped with motivation to stay on track with my food and exercise. Now I keep telling myself I have to come home in the same clothes I go in, and since they're my old "skinny" clothes, they're pretty tight. I don't want to deprive myself while on vacation but it would be awesome to come home after a week in Seattle and a week in Hawaii without a weight gain. Take care y'all.... Peace out.

  6. I'm here you guys.... I've just been really busy and not spending much time on the computer except to check emails and lurking here quickly just to stay in contact. I've been doing great, and hitting it pretty hard at the gym, trying to lose as much weight as I can till I go on vacation. I've got a closet full of clothes I'd like to fit into. 14.5 more pounds to get back to goal. I'd like to do it in 4 weeks, before I leave. I know it's unreasonable, but if they can do it on "the Biggest Loser", I can try my best. I'll try to catch up on the posts this weekend, starting with this one. Looks like I've missed a lot.   7. Congratulations !!! You've done wonderfully. I swear.... getting back to goal is wayyyy more difficult then getting there initially. (at least it has been for me). I've still got a ways to go, but I've really been hitting it pretty hard for the past month or so. I'm going to Seattle and Hawaii in 4 weeks, and I've been trying to get as close as I can. I've still got a closet full of clothes I'd like to get into so I don't have to go out and buy all new clothes for vacation.
  8. There was a time when I considered Bypass surgery, but THANK GOD my insurance company turned me down. Everyone I know that's had the surgery has had problems. I was able to lose my weight slowly with Atkins (first 60 pounds) and then Weight Watchers (84 pounds). I too was able to maintain my weight until I broke my foot and it interfered with my exercise. I also got very depressed and began binge eating again. I gained back 45 pounds and it seems like it's taken forever to get that weight off again. I just don't seem to have the same motivation. The last 25 is taking forever..... up and down the same 5-7 pounds. It's me, not the program. I looked into gastric banding to help stop my binging. I thought if I had that procedure done I physically would be unable to binge (seemed like a good idea to me). I thought it would work as a forced behavior modification. (binging = puking). I checked into 3 options for the surgery. 2 Docs in Orlando turned me down because I didn't meet the criteria. My BMI was too low. I thought I was a good candidate because I didn't have any medical risks, but they said the company that provides the band prohibited it. I certainly wasn't about to gain another 60 pounds to meet the criteria. The only place that agreed to do the surgery was a clinic in Mexico. I chickened out and decided to keep doing what I know works. Weight Watchers !!! Now, if I can just stay motivated I'll get back to goal. Stopping the binge eating is still a daily struggle, but the binges are fewer and further apart. It's not easy, but I think it's worth it. Surgery isn't in my future, so I'll keep on keeping on till I get back to goal.
  9. Jill Leigh... I think you're the little sister in this group. I think I'm the oldest (56). Trudie is right. We are a strong, supportive, successful group. To me... I feel like you're all my sisters and we're a big extended family. I feel like a whiner.... most of you are up north with temps in the teens or below, and I hate getting out of bed if the temp dips below 50. It's 40 degrees this morning with a wind chill of 32. That's freaking freezing. It's a long walk from the parking lot to the clinic I work in at the jail and it's like walking through a wind tunnel. I sure hope this is the last cold spell of the season. It was 80 on Saturday and 40 on Sunday.... that's crazy. Well... now that I've done my complaining for the day, I'm off to a hot shower. I'm planning an OP day. Strength training and cardio at the gym this evening. I hope everyone has an awesome day.
  10. I'm planning on hitting it harder in March too. February was pretty much a wash for me as far as weight loss. Up and down the same few pounds. My plan is to increase my fitness plan, add more strength training and add 20 min. on my elliptical machine at home 3 mornings a week in addition to my time at the gym. I'm also going to stay within my point range EVERYDAY!! Using no more then my target & AP's. I want to be POP for the whole month of March and not sabotage my efforts by binging.... (not even once). Screwing up with weekly binges kept me from progressing at all in Feb. One "bad" day a week completely stopped my progress, and no amount of extra exercise made up for it. Today I did a power sculpt class in addition to Zumba, so with 6 AP's for the day I'm off to a good start. We're either going to a movie tonight or going dancing, so if it's the later I'll rack up a few more AP's. I really have to recommit again and quit playing around. I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. The weather is perfect outside. I think I'll go take a walk around the lake while I have time. Peace out....
  11. Here I am, a day late, catching up on the posts. Denise.... I'm so proud of you for sticking to your plan on the cruise. A few years ago I went on a Ballroom Dance Cruise. I went to the gym every morning, danced during the afternoon and also at night and still gained 10 pounds in 7 days. I just wasn't used to eating 5-6 meals a day. I was careful about what I was eating the first day... then blew it big time. I just ate what everyone else in my group was eating (lots of pizza and ice cream between meals and late at night... sushi before dinner, and desserts at every meal). It was like being on a floating troth (sp?). I love cruises, but frankly I'm afraid of going on another one because I just don't trust myself around all that food. I've been on 3 cruises, and gained on each one. Laurie.... I'm so excited that you're going to Zumba!!!!!! Next you'll be getting certified as an instructor. The workshop was so much fun and well worth the $195, even if you never teach a class. I taught for more then a year till I broke my foot. I started with a small group in my condo and then a larger group at work. At $5 per person, per class (or $20 for 5 classes), I was making enough money to pay for my own Ballroom dance classes. Plus, it was a committment to show up for classes 3 nights a week. As usual.... I'm now running late for work. Gotta jump in the shower.
  12. Just checking in.... I've been reading the posts most mornings while I'm having my coffee, but not enough time to type anything of value. My weight has been fluctuating the same 2-3 pounds the last week or so.... I'm usually like that. I'll "hover" a week or two and then I'll have a real loss. My Doc has been trying to adjust my Thyroid meds. I was taking Cytomel along with Synthroid, but I asked her to switch it as my insurance won't cover the cost of Cytomel. I've still got a few weeks before I get my TSH checked again. I'm thinking I'm not getting enough Synthroid because my energy level isn't what it was before I discontinued the Cytomel. I've been slacking on my exercise routines and for the past few weeks have just been walking, doing Zumba and my other dance classes. I'm planning to step things up a bit starting Saturday. I'm off this weekend, so I'll have no excuses. Kimberly... glad to hear your husband's doing well. Trudie... hope your Dgd is feeling better HD... I'm waiting for a rainy weekend afternoon to see Slumdogs Jill-Leigh.... I live with the same "bathroom issue" as you. You've got my sympathy. Everyone else...... take care and have a great OP day.
  13. I thought I had posted Monday morning on the weekend thread but didn't see it this morning. Hummm.... Just checking in to catch up on yesterday's news. I came home yesterday afternoon and took a nap, then went to Zumba, came home, cooked dinner and then watched TV till I fell aleep. I was zonked after our busy weekend. I hope to have more energy this afternoon and will be back to post. Gotta get ready for work. Have a good day y'all.
  14. Happy Valentines Day everyone.... Ed sent me a beautiful flower arrangement that was delivered yesterday afternoon when I got home from work. We got up this morning early to go to the farmer's market. He's off to martial arts and I'm going to Zumba. I have been craving a "real" bagel and "real" cream cheese. I gave in this morning at the farmer's market, but it was probably a better choice then the huge pecan cinnamon roll I was eyeing while we were standing in line. Tonight we're going out to dinner so I've decided I'm just going to enjoy myself, not feel deprived and then get back on track. We're planning a long bike ride tomorrow, and we're going swing dancing tonight, so that should take care of at least a glass of wine and a shared dessert. The rest I'll work off the rest of the week. WW is a lifestyle and sometimes we impulsively "blow it", and sometimes we make a conscious decision to indulge even if it means exceeding target + AP's + WPA's. I know it's not bootcamp behavior, but sometimes it's worth a week in the brig. (staying only at target, and earning extra AP's and not using them). I'm sure I'll be kicking myself tomorrow, but today it doesn't seem like a bad idea. Well, I'd better change clothes and get to the gym. Have a good day y'all.
  15. The Guacamole flavor is great. Spicy and crisp. You just have to get past eating something green. (other then veggies). They kind of look moldy. 3 points per serving.
