  1. Weight Watchers can be fun and fulfilling if you approach it as a lifestyle and not a diet. "When you don't give up you can't fail!"

  2. Hello every-buddie...I've been away from the thread for a few days, but wanted to check in and say Hi. Today was my WI and I was down 2 pounds...was hoping for more, but other factors may have tainted the scale's number...monthly visitor...and I'm really sick right now (serious cold). Didn't want anyone to think I was AWOL due to not staying OP. I did really well during the Super Bowl game...didn't even use any Weekly Points that day. But this cold is kicking my butt. I've managed to come to work each day so far, but I'm so exhausted by the time I get home, that I'm in bed by 9:00. We've had a strenuous week here at work as well...watched many of my colleagues that I've known over the past 8 years get laid off...and it wasn't until yesterday afternoon that I was finally reassured that I wasn't going to be one of them. But for now, the layoffs are finished and my job is secure. OK...hope everyone is doing well...I didn't read the thread yet...so I'm going to do this now.
  3. Good Morning Buddies...Happy Birthday Katy!! Can't stay, gotta get ready for work. But I'll check in sometime this morning. Hope everyone has a great day!
  4. Cressa...YUMMY... And journalling is a wonderful thing!! Proud of you. Karen...my 401k looks like I'm 90 and already spent all my money...LOL
  5. Julie...I hear ya. I have a sit down job...except for getting up to go to the printer when I print 40 pages of the thread...lol. And my house won't be paid off till I'm 69 years old...but then I'll have to work in order to keep the lights and heat on, and pay those cute young men to come over and mow my grass...if I'm paying for lawn mowing service, they have to be cute and young!! LOL So I'm just going to keep clicking away at this keyboard until I either move in with one of my kids or the Good Lord takes me home (God willing).
  6. I think I'm just going to dive into that martini...it's a typical Monday and I'm being rebelious by posting instead of working. Good thing I made dinner ahead of time...it might be 9:00 PM before I get out of here. You can tell economic times are tough...everyone is withdrawing their 401k money to prevent foreclosure...very sad...but at least many have the money to take and make the here and now less stressful. I've already given up the dream of retiring...I'll be here until they force me to go.
  7. Good Morning / Afternoon Ladies... I read the entire thread, but don't have time for personals...I do know that we thought Katy's birthday was today, but it's actually tomorrow...the rest of it is a blurr. I just turned 40, and the mind is already fading fast...LOL I had a great weekend. I actually made a few Point Friendly recipes for dinner this week. So now I just have to heat them and eat them. I also found a really good dip that I made and took to my friend's. I am going to make it again for Super Bowl: Feta and Spinach Dip POINTS® value | 1 Servings | 8 Preparation Time | 12 min Cooking Time | 1 min Level of Difficulty | Easy snacks | This creamy spinach-feta combo dresses up fresh vegetables or baked pita chips deliciously. Or use it as a tasty spread for sliced chicken wraps. Ingredients 4 cup spinach, fresh, chopped (about 2 oz) 1/2 cup light cream cheese 1/2 cup fat-free sour cream 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese 1/4 cup chives, fresh, minced, divided 2 tsp fresh lemon juice 1/4 tsp black pepper 1/4 tsp table salt, or less to taste (optional) Instructions Place spinach in a small saucepan with 2 cups of water. Cook over high heat for 1 minute; drain well. Place spinach, cream cheese, sour cream, feta cheese, 1 tablespoon of chives, lemon juice and pepper in a blender; puree. Taste dip and add salt if desired. Spoon dip into a serving bowl and sprinkle with remaining tablespoon of chives. Yields about 3 tablespoons of dip per serving. Notes For a nice flavor boost, substitute sorrel or watercress for half the spinach and follow the recipe directions above. OK...I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday...I spent my lunch reading and don't have much time to type. I will check in a little later.
  8. Hi Cressa...glad to hear you are feeling a little better. Hang in there. My mother-in-law told my DH (who suffers from depression) that January 23rd (yesterday) has been proven to be the most depressing day of the year. She's an RN, but I haven't Googled the statement. Hugs to you!!!!
  9. Good Morning Buddies... I had the day off yesterday from work, went to the doctor. Then I took my Christmas tree down...yes, it stayed up way too long, but my house it finally back to normal. Then I went grocery shopping yesterday...so today, I'm just hanging out at home until this evening. DH and I are going to a friend's house (she used to post here a few years back)...her DH recorded the History channel's "Seven Deadly Sins" series, so we are going to have dinner there and watch a few of the episodes together. (And I'm sure we will debate...our DH's are more liberal than we are, so it ought to be interesting, if not heated at times .) As I type this, it doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun, but it will be. My friend had gastric bypass surgery this past summer, so we are accomodating her nutritional needs along with my WW needs for the menu. The DH's will have to make due!!! Julie ~ A warm blazing fire...I'm comin' over, I'll bring my own throw!!! Esther ~ I so hope you feel better. We've had a lot of illness at my work...so far, I've avoided it. (Shouldn't have typed that...I'll probably get it now.) Christie ~ Love the cat!! I keep thinking today is Sunday since I was off yesterday...but it's only Saturday...woohoo!! Have a great day!! Lynn ~ Hope you feel better too...and stay warm...that is way too cold for me. Last night it was cold here, but still above 0. Tanya ~ Enjoy the playoffs. Your breakfast sounds YUMMY. OK...I'm going to browse the site for a little bit. Putting together a snack menu for Super Bowl Sunday next week. Can't Wait...GO CARDINALS!!!!!!
  10. Good Morning Buddies...Sorry to all of the sickly & exhausted buddies...I hope all of you feel better soon. I'm not sick today, but I truly do not want to be here at work...I requested tomorrow off...so today is my Friday!! Last night, my DH and I went to a restaurant well known for their Chicken Dinners (Barberton, OH is known as the home of 4 "Chicken Dinner" places: Whitehouse Chicken, Belgrades Chicken, Hopocan Gardens Chicken and Miliche's Village Inn...they actually have a "Chicken Fest" every September), and a regular chicken dinner has been calculated at over 1200 calories. It comes with a breast, a leg, and a back with fries, coleslaw and hot rice. DH thought that since it was WI day, I could eat this and not jeopardize next week's WI. So my strategy was to take off all the breading on the breast and eat only the chicken, I took 3/4 of the fries off the plate immediately and bagged them up for my DS and ate 1/2 the rice. And as I calculated the points, it still came out to be around 10, but they were all accounted for in my journal. Julie ~ Morning!!! Tanya ~ Hope DH feels better soon. Brooke ~ Karen ~ It's 32 in Ohio today and we're wearing capris and tank tops I hate the cold!! Lynn ~ Feel Better!!! Nancy ~ Sorry about your pics...are the "boys" of the canine nature? If I forgot anyone...so sorry... OK...I have to get back to work...but I hope everyone has a great day.
  11. Hi to all the buddies who have posted today. (Will have to do personals later)...but anyhoot...I lost 5.4 pounds (21.6 sticks of butter!!!!). I was very pleased. Actually, everyone did really well this first week. There's about 50 people in our "At Work" meeting. So it was fun to see everyone successful this week. OK lots of work to get done today...but I'll be back on this afternoon. THANKS FOR ALL THE SKINNY VIBES AND WELL WISHES!!!!!!!
  12. Good Morning... I made it on the first page (better type quick, there may be 3 pages of posts from you ladies by the time I click on submit!!). I'm enjoying a cup of coffee while the kids get ready for school. I get weighed at 11:00 this morning. I hope the scales are good to me today...I need the momentum. Did anyone watch Biggest Loser last night? I finally did. My best friend always tells me about how inspiring it is...so I tuned in. It's definitely easier to watch while OP...maybe that's why I never watched it in the past...not easy to eat a whole bowl of ice cream while watching that show...LOL OK...I need to get ready for work. I will post after my meeting. To everyone: Have a great day...even if things aren't going as planned, choose to be positive and give yourself a compliment along the way.
  13. Hi Trish...I can so relate (a gazallion badrillion times) with the not protecting myself and turning to food because of my mood. I'm relearning and retreading a path that I've already taken, and some days will be harder, if not nearly impossible. I am struggling with a thyroid issue. I had radioactive iodine treatment in November and will be seeing my endochronolgist this coming Friday to determine the next course of action. I fear the scales tomorrow because I have put forth the effort this past week, but not sure if my thyroid will cooperate. However, I am going to give it my best effort...setbacks and all...and I am vowing to stay the course this time. Moods come and go...and food will always parish (unless its Spam...lol)...but I think from reading your post, you've taken the next step to getting things back under control...you are being accountable! Had I been accountable throughout the process of gaining 50 pounds...I might have stopped at only 5 pounds.
  14. Good evening ladies...I've been AWOL from the thread the past few days, but not from program. I also had a three day weekend from work and I chose to stay off of the computer since that's all I look at Mon - Fri. And of course today, being the first day back to work since Friday, we were extremely busy. It was the kind of day that almost makes one run to the vending machine and grab chocolate (LOTS OF IT). But I didn't...even though I couldn't get on here an post, I thought of all of you...and how I would have to post my weak moment...that was enough to make me embrace my apple and like it!!! Tomorrow is weigh in after only being OP for 1 week...and I'm so glad I can type "I followed program for 7 days straight". It's been so long since I could say that. Anyway, I'll be back on tomorrow morning...hopefully before there's more than one page of posts. You girls are remarkable with your 5 pages of posts!!!! Have a great night!
  15. Good Afternoon Buddies... Today is Day 1 being OP and I'm fired up. Didn't make it to the store last night (will tonight), but I was able to throw some point friendly stuff together for the day. I got a "GT Express 101" for Christmas (and a Magic Bullet as well)...so this morning I made 2 eggs in it while I was getting the kids out the door for school. I love how fast and easy this thing is to use. And I'm drinking my water as I work at my desk. Hi Julie...pictures and videos always make me realize how fast time flies!! Lynn ~ Hope your day goes smoothly Nancy ~ I can't imagine my kids ever being more than 15 minutes away...or at least my DS...he'll probably live in my basement forever...LOL Katy ~ Enjoy your dinner with friends Karen ~ No kidding, just thought I lost this post as well, but it was only a Pop up...(whew) Hopie ~ Laundry (my enemy)...but FREE is always good! Brooke ~ It's extremely cold here today as well, but it looks like tomorrow will be the last of the extreme cold and then the snow comes back...I work in an area they call "The Snow Belt"...and it has nothing to with fashion, lol Christie ~ Hope that tylenol kicks in...headaches and cold weather don't go well together Tanya ~ You work late just like me...I don't try to, supposed to leave at 5:30, but I always end up working on "an issue so I won't have to deal with it tomorrow" and then the next day, a new issue comes along. But I'm always happy for the overtime. Karen ~ 32 degrees in Florida, say it isn't so ...where will I dream of going to these next few days??? Hi Esther...Hope your day isn't too long...and you are so right about the printer...we are doing so many things at my work "paperless" that it looks very suspicious when 40 pages are coming out. LOL Rhonda ~ Congrats on your successful night's sleep. I don't know your history, but I can totally relate to the sleep issue. I'm better now, but there was a time when I first was diagnosed with Graves Disease that sleep was not my friend. OK...if I forgot anyone...I do apologize. I am going to go heat up my Progresso Soup and make my grocery list. I will talk to you all soon.
