Hi Lisa, How you do on the pre-P90X test? BTW, congrats on your loss. You are half the person you were. In a good way. AFM, Its been a while since I've posted. I'm still hitting the gym. I actually got to two gyms. We have a gym here at work. Its a complete gym with all free weights, cables, dumbells, and a smith machine. So I lift here at work. I also go to LA Fitness. I really enjoy spin classes. Their spin classes are intense. You can burn up to 800 - 900 calories in an hour. I have noticed something intriguing, why are guys so afraid of spin classes? The ratio is usually 4:1. Its such an intense workout!! More guys should be attending. Its a complete fat burning class. Your thoughts? -Rich

Hi All, I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. I had to work Sunday, but it was relaxing. I took a break from working out this weekend. Apparently while doing shoulder presses on Thur morning, I pinched a nerve in my neck and I was in a lot of pain. Couldn't turn my neck. Looked like I had whip lash. LOL. Feeling better today. Friday I did manage to take a spin class at the local gym and again yesterday. I now remember how much of a workout these classes are. Intense!!. Makes for a great sweat. Today, neck is feeling much better, hitting the gym at work and I'm planning on Chest and back. If I'm not too spent, I'll do 30 - 40 mins on the elliptical or Arc trainer. Have a great Wed.

Hi Goddess, unfortunately yes. The Distraction of 3 young boys at home is too much too comit to the program. As soon as I get home, I'm ambushed with household tasks. I'm lucky enough that I have a complete gym at work, so I'm able to go to the gym before heading home from work. I also signed up for local gym to start spinning again. I'll continue to do the videos when I get the chance. My plan was to hit the new gym after my sons play. But I was exhausted. We got home at 9:30 and we were spent! LOL. It was a cute production. My son's school put on the Lion King. It was cute to see all the kids in their costumes. I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a morning excercise person. I got up this AM at 4:30. I hit the gym at work and I felt soooo weak. Is it that I just not into it in the AM or that I need to get used to it? I'll have to figure that one out. But once I'm done I feel awesome. I did shoulders and Arms. Tonight I'm either going to cut the grass. I have .5 an acre. I have both type of mowers. Push (not self propelled) or a ride on. I tend to like the push mower. It cuts better and gives me a great workout. If it rains, which is calling for it, I'll hit the new gym for a spin class. We'll see. Have a great one!!

Laveta, how were your 4 miles? My twins are 9 mth old boys. They keep us superbusy. lol. I did chest and back yesterday. WOW! I feel awesome today. Spent over on hour on these two muscle groups. Going to check out the new gym this afternoon. My son is in a play tonight. So it'll be an adventure when DW and I show up with a twin in each arm. LOL. I'm hoping to hit the gym after the play for some cardio. Looking forward to my first spin class soon.

Goddess - Aweseome!! Ab Ripper will definatelty humble the best of us. LOL Good job on the Kempo. Glad to hear DH is trying it too. Laveta - 5 Miles. Nice. As for me, I was in NY this weekend for my moms BDay. We had a BBQ for her. Lots of grilled steak. No burgers at this BBQ. Kept it clean. My parents love on Long Island, which is 40 Mins East of Manhattan. Its like any other suburb, just crowded. LOL. Last night I did 45 mins on the elliptical. I had to drop p90x. Working out at home was proving to be too difficult. Too many distractions with the kids. I'd walk through the door and get hit with "I need help with Homework" etc. LOL. I'd end up helpomg my older DS with his homework, then feeding the twins, helping out DW. Before you know it its 10 PM. I know I know, I hear the violins too. But I need to keep at it!! I'll continur to do some of the workouts when I can. But its back to the gym for me. Chest and back tonight. My Fav!! Also, two years ago, I used to belong to the local Y. I dropped it because it got too expensive. On top of the membership fee, we had to pay for each class. I really enjoyed spinning and when I was spinning, the pounds melted off me. Spinning just takes cardio to a whole new level. Its A W E S O M E!!! So I found a deal at a local gym with good spinning classes and it fits my schedule, I'll continue to use my work gym for lifting. We'll see how it works out.

Hi all, I was on a business trip to NYC and just got in this morning. So I was not able to complete any workous since Monday. Looking to get into again today. Goddess, great that you tried Chest and Back. Awesome! With activity points, it all depends. When I do these workouts, I actually keep up with the same amount of reps done on the videos. 30 - 40 pushups per segment. I'm covered in sweat when I'm done. No pushups on my knees. I also have pushup bars so I can go deeper. When at the guym, I use weights for bars. I also never hit the pause button. Same for pull ups. 70% unassisted. as far as cardio, I'm a moderate runner and at one time a Spinning addict. Loved to Spin. I just need a new gym. LOL. So P90X's Cardio workouts are a bit moderate for me. So I try to supplement the P90X cardio. I'm known to spend 60 - 75 mins on the elliptical or arc trainer. On a scale of 1 - 10. I'm usually around an 8 when it comes to cardio. Everyone works out a different level / pace. Laveta, awesome job. Glad you are doing the program.

Friday night I was able to squeeze in a workout. It was a productive weekend. Went camping with my sons cub scout pack. Lets of hiking and pickup football and kickball games. It was lots of fun. Eating was not as clean as I had hoped for. I wish I had been a better prepard. I had to settle for camp food while I was there. Today, I'm hoping to do chest and back. I have lots to do tonight. I have a business trip to NYC on Wed. I leave tomorrow night and come home Wed night. Hoping to squeeze something in. -Rich

Busy Busy Busy. here at work. Yesterday when i got home I got bum-rushed by a 7 year old needing help with his homework. So I had to sideline P90X for the night. Only downfall to working out at home is the distractions. Not that my DS is a distraction, just more of a sideliner . So we went to PF Changs for dinner. I kept it safe and had the Grilled Chilean Sea Bass on a bed of spinich. Very good. Tonight, I have rush home, stop at Walmart for some camping supplies, cut the lawn, replace a headlight on my Jeep, pack the Jeep with our camping equipment, and if not too tired, try to squeeze a workout in. LOL. DS and I are going camping with his Cub Scout pack. Should be a lot of fun. I love the outdoors. I have 3 camping trips this summer planned. Thats just DS and I. I'm hoping to get at least one in with the entire family.

Hi Trish, Thank you! Yes, You and RU have a very valid point. Does Protein shakes sustain my level of activity? For me, yes it does. But might work for me might not work well for others. I've gotten myself used to drinking the protein post workouts and don't mind drinking my activity points away. I know my body is benefitting from it. Now, if i were drinking protein, without working out. That will really put on weight. Also, its the quality of the protein. Muscle Milk = Not Good. All Sugar and Fat. I look for low fat Whey Protein. Study the nutritional values, Ammo Acids, L-Glutamine. Etc. All these factors need to be taken into consideration. But again, thats just my opinion and whats working for me. Everyone is different. I've been on Maintanance now since May 07, and let me tell you. For me maintaining my weight has been much harder than losing the 80 lbs, which took me 18 mths. I try not to get comfortable with my eating. I treat myself to some food awesomeness (if thats a word. LOL), I'm human. We all deserve it. Food is too good to be ignored. But the difference between maintaining and gaining the weight back is. Remember how hard it was to lose it? Do you want to do that all over again? Do you want to lose the same weight twice? For me, its a big fat NO!!. So I give myself a kick, realize you treated yourself, then go back on program. How long have you been on WW? And please feel free to ask, criticize, and provide your opinion. If I was not open to it, i would not be posting. -Rich

Goddess, you can beat as much as you want. Sometimes I do feel hungry and I do eat a healthy snack. I'm really not following P90X's nutritional guide too much. I enjoy carbs, so I'll still eat them after Phase 1. In regards to the protein, its a big YES. After I lost the weight on WW. I actually got to thin. I was lifting on a reg basis. I was leaning out. I started on protein shakes two years ago as a post workout recovery drink. Protein helps build lean muscle and helps the strained muscle fibers repair themselves after a workout. I'm now about 186 and 14% BF. Which means that of my body, 26 lbs is fat. When I lost the weight 2 years ago, I was 175 and 19% BF. So i have been able to put on some lean muscle in 2 years. The WW lifestyle is with me for life. I cannot look at food and not put a point value on it. LOL. even with P90X, I still count my points. I belong to another board. A woman was on a dif excercise program, but ate very healty. She stayed the same weight. But went down 4 dress sizes in 12 weeks just by lowering Body Fat. An amazing job. Thanks. The boys are almost 9 mths. They turned our family room into a playroom. LOL. My other DS is 7. Not in the pic. Yes, thats me. Taken last weekend during a night out in NYC. as far as PF Changs, I'm looking at the Grilled Mahi Mahi. Trying to keep sodium down. Their website has all the nutritional values on line. Comes in handy, Check it out.

Hi Goddess, Yes it is very tricky to incorporate the WW way of eating with P90X. based on the WW eating plan, if calculated each point at 60 Cals, I would be allotted 1700 p/day (28 Pts). However, because P90X demands at least an hour of either resistance training or Cardio, I usually calculate 5 - 7 activity points. Which is about 300 Cals which will bring me up to 2000. cals a day. Ideally, I should be consuming about 2200. However, I do deplete myself 200 a day on average. I usually save the 300 cals for my recovery/Protein shake. GNC's Wheybolic Extreme. 302 Cals, 60 g of high quality protein, and 2g of Fat. 5.5 Pts. I hope to have answered your questions. Pink, thanks! I heard Glucosomine works wonders!!. Its been recommmneded for me to take, I'm about to turn 40 and after a lot of running, I start developing Hip Bursitis. I've just been too lazy or don't remember to take it. Thur Update: So last night, the whole family went to the carnival. DW, DS, and the twins!! DS was all over the place on all the rides. Even the twins got in on the action. DW and I jumped on a ride with a Twin each. DS loved it. He kept yelling, "My brothers are on their 1st ride" I kept cracking up. However, there were a lot of temptation. I won't go into the food porn, but just think of all the possible bad carnival food. Exactly!!. I stayed away from it all, even though my stomach was growling. We got home at 8:00 PM, and I went straight to the basement. I put everything out of my mind and did Arms and Shoulders. It felt A M A Z I N G. I was so pumped up when I was done. Again, like the other night. I was not able to stomach food after working out. I just drank my Protein shake. I was able to eat some cottage cheese right before bed. I was again all wound up. So I had to watch a bit of TV before I finally passed out around 11. Tonight, I'm planning on going home and doing yoga. Then we are taking my cousin out to say goodbye. Shes going home after spendin six months with as helping us out with the twins. She was a big help. We're going to PF Changs. I already checked out their menu and know what I'm ordering. Gotta go prepared. Pics, Heres a pic of the twins, right before I put them to bed and of me in NYC
