  2. Hi Nancy. I have not made one with beef but during the holidays I made one with pork. I got a pork tenderloin roast and cooked it in my slowcooker for about 9 hours. It sounds weird, but I put the roast in the slow cooker and added 12 oz. of diet root beer, closed the lid and let it cook on low for 9 hours. Then I drained the liquid and pulled the pork apart with a fork to shred it and I added a small amount of low sugar BBQ sauce (just enough to add some flavor) and mixed it well. I served on whole wheat buns with BBQ sauce on the side. My DBF likes lots of sauce so he added as much as he wanted to his! I have made slowcooker beef roasts too. I use 2 packets of Good Seasons dressing (one Italian and one Garlic) mix. I sprinkle one package in the bottom of the slowcooker, place the roast on top and sprinkle the other packet over the roast, pour 1 can of light beer over it all and cook on low for 8 hours. I'm sure you could do the same thing with this and add your BBQ sauce to it after cooking. Yummy!
  3. I made this last night and DH & I LOVED it! I am always trying to find new ways to cook chicken and this one is fantastic. I used Smucker's sugarfree peach preserves and low sodium soy sauce and left out the salt. I baked it uncovered for 45 minutes and it was perfectly cooked and juicy. (I think 1 1/2 hrs would be way too long). My chicken breasts were rather large but were cooked perfectly and very juicy and flavorable. I couldn't believe it. We had it with brown rice and steamed veggies. I will be sharing this great recipe with my friends!
  4. Hi everyone. This is my first post in the runners thread! I ran my first 5K this morning in 34.5. The weather was pretty bad due to Hurricane Ike but I was determined to get this sucker done! I had to stop twice and walk a minute each time to catch my breath. But the humidity is 89% and the winds were against me on my way back so overall I feel successful.
  5. Yeah it's good. I made it Sunday and used a bundt pan. It's been in the fridge and it's still yummy. I've been eating a slice every day and my DBF loves it.
  6. I've been going to Curves 5 mths. Since joining I've lost 7 inches, am more toned than I've ever been in my life and have muscle. I go there 3 days a week and the other 3 days I do cardio/running. It's about $35 mth and you don't need a personal trainer. Since you've already joined Bally's this probably isn't an option for you but just an idea for the future if Bally's doesn't work out.
  7. I wasn't sure where to place this post so I'm taking a wild guess here. My question is to the ladies and it's regarding sports bras. Up until now I haven't been wearing one and it hasn't bothered me too much until lately I've been experiencing a lot tenderness and have noticed a small abrasion forming. I want to get a good sports bra and am looking for some recommendations. I have been stressing out lately about the soreness I'm experiencing and I called my doc and she said it's most likely due to the fact that I haven't been wearing a sports bra when I run. Any ideas, experiences or suggestions? Thanks! It's greatly appreciated.
  8. Bump! I made this yesterday and it's soooo good!
  9. I have oatmeal in the mornings before I workout with a slice of high fiber bread or half a bagel lightly spread with some lowfat peanut butter. The peanut butter adds some protein to the meal and it doesn't leave me starving after my workout.
  10. Jeanine: Way to go!! I completed Week 7 today.
  11. My new shoes are awesome. No pain and I felt like I was running on clouds. Best purchase I've made in a long time.
  12. I got some new Asics running shoes yesterday and can't wait to try them out this morning. They were expensive but they are awesome and the cushioning is incredible. I'm going to do W7D2 over and hope it goes better than last time.
  13. Jack, thanks, that was very informative! I have noticed over the past few days and especially since my toenail broke that my toes are pressing harder against the end of my shoes. I am planning to go to the running store today and get my feet properly sized and fit for some good shoes. It's very frustrating because for the first time in my life I'm absolutely loving running and I'm so mentally there but these little issues are popping up. Thanks again for the info. I really appreciate it!! I attempted W7D2 yesterday after work and I wasn't able to accomplish it. I started the 25 min run and made it about 8 min and had to stop. I walked and ran in intervals and although I still did 2.5 miles I didn't feel successful. I will attempt it again tomorrow and just re-do the day. I'm giving my body a day to rest.
