  1. Hi! I met you on a United Airlines flight from Frankfurt to San Francisco on Saturday. I thought I was Luckymommy, but as you can see, I'm Kootya. I guess it has been too long since I've logged onto this board! I just weighed myself this morning and I have gained 40 pounds!!!! I'm starting WW today and am doing the Flex Points program. It's hard right now because I'm dealing with a migraine, but I'm determined to stick it out. I've got a very long way to go! Anyway, if you find this post, write me back and let me know how you are! Irene
  2. I feel your pain and share your frustration. I recently gained lots of weight due to a constant migraine that lasted five months. I had one of my kid's moms ask me if I was pregnant! I think it has to be one of the dumbest questions you can ask someone. I NEVER ask people this, unless they are already hinting about it. Anyway, I think it's great that you're so motivated. I agree with the previous post. I also wanted to add that you should make sure you're eating all your points and that you eat activity points too. Also, try to do weights about 3 times a week. Your increased muscles will speed up that metabolism! Try to resist the temptation to weigh yourself more than once a week and be sure to do it in the morning before you eat or drink. Know that it may not come off as fast as with crash diets, but if you're able to stick to it, you'll see that it's a lifestyle change and that you never have to deal with those types of questions anymore! Don't forget to drink your water and make sure you're active all day long. So, even though you workout, you still make sure to be active at every chance you get. Park your car far, or try to walk to more places. Use stairs instead of the elevator. Do crunches and squats while you watch t.v., etc. Good luck!
  3. Thanks so much for all the great support & advice! I knew I could count on the BCB for help in this matter. I think my problem is that I've binged so much and I've yo-yoed so often w/ my weight, that my body isn't willing to give up the fat as quickly as it did in the past. I will try to work w/ different combinations, but since I'm not always in control over what I do, I might not be able to do this in the most logical fashion! One of you asked me what I have done to help stop or minimize the binges. WW has been the biggest help. Also, if I don't workout, I'm much more likely to binge. I've noticed a variety of triggors: anxiety, exhaustion, lack of sleep are major triggors. I am aware that food is like a drug and I'm trying to use other ways to calm myself when I feel like I need it. I can only describe the feeling as an overwhelming urge. Imagine you have an itch and you're dying to scratch it. You try to do other things to distract yourself, but sometimes, the itch just gets more and more powerful. If I do feel this way, I try to do something physical like push ups, crunches, etc. I try to drink some tea sometimes or I try to just go to bed since it usually happens at night. But, sometimes I feel like a self-sabotager. Luckily, I don't ever go over my points. That is, I use the weekly 35 points extra. I've never used all of them. Usually, I'll use about 10 a week. My workouts are pretty intense. For instance, today, I did the elliptical machine for 50 minutes and I burned over 600 calories. I'm drenched w/ sweat, so I don't think I'm over-estimating my AP's. In fact, I think I'm not using them often enough. Sorry this got so long. I just love this board and I find it helpful. WW is the first plan that I have done in a long time where I feel it's something I can do for the rest of my life. I just need to be patient and to learn about my body and what it needs. Irene
  4. Hi all, For some reason, I've noticed that if I use my flex points or activity points, I gain weight. If I don't use them, I lose. The problem is that I have an issue w/ binging and I'd like to be able to use those points for what I consider a limited binge. Instead of eating the entire house , I'm limited to WW friendly snacks and deserts. I know this is not the best solution in the world, but WW has been VERY helpful for me because NOTHING else has stopped me from these uncontrollable binges. I'm just wondering, is it just me? Does anyone else out there have trouble using their AP and/or Flex points? If you're wondering, I workout VERY hard 6 or 7 times a week, so I'm doing the best I can with exercise. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks! Irene
  5. Your body will deal better w/ stress if you nourish it, but I know you're going through something very difficult. Perhaps you could even drink some of those Slimfast shakes? They're better than nothing. Ideally, you could make a shake out of frozen berries, a frozen banana, nonfat milk and a bit of yogurt. If you put a protein powder in there, that would be even better!!! I wish you lots of luck and I hope you get back on track soon. Hugs.
  6. I totally feel for you because I've had those types of situations before and I have regretted my actions. Now, when I go to a social event that includes eating, I make sure to use my 35 points and I try to eat very little so that it looks like I"m eating, but really, I'm an actress! I actually had to take my boys to a bday party over the weekend. Those tend to be major triggors for me. I love the pizza, chips, soft drinks and cupcakes. However, I want to lose weight more than I want those foods. What I did this time was I had a big apple as I drove over. Then, while my boys were playing, I told them I had to get something from the car and I went into my car (while I could see my boys playing) and I quickly ate a very high fiber muffin (1 point). Finally, I left a bit early and I told my friend that we have some other plans. I know it's not the best way to deal with the situation, but I gotta do what I gotta do! Just focus on the future. Workout extra hard and be very careful w/ your points. You might want to eat more protein than you usually do, since your foods had lots of carbs. Just a thought. GL and stay strong!!!
  7. Well, I'm not really the best example. I buy lots of WW frozen meals and deserts. I also buy turkey breast cold cuts and bagels that are yummy and are only 1 point each. I love the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray. I also got some low fat shredded cheese and 1 point tortillas for a quesadilla. I like fake hot dogs that are made from soy (by Yves). I eat them w/ Ketchup when I need some protein. I also like an organic instant oatmeal that is called Optimum Power (1 pt. only). I like Kashi Go Lean cereal. One cup is 2 points and it takes a while for me to munch on it. Hope that helps! Irene
  8. Just wanted to say "hi" from another WW in San Diego!!! Woohooo! Irene
  9. That sounds yummy! I'm a new here, so I'm looking for low-point recipes! I might substitue the sugar w/ Splenda and then it's only 2 points, right? Thanks! Irene
  10. That's great Katy! I'm new here but not new to WW. It really does work and it's such a wonderful feeling. I know I have a new outlook on life. Also, I'm working on not focusing on the final goal....the 10% goal is a great place to focus on. Well done! Irene
