  1. You gotta love church bulletin writers. These sentences actually appeared in church bulletins or were announced in church services: 1. Bertha Belch, a missionary from Africa, will be speaking tonight at Calvary Methodist. Come hear Bertha Belch all the way from Africa. 2. Announcement in a church bulletin for a national PRAYER & FASTING Conference: "The cost for attending the Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals. 3. Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Don't forget your husbands. 4. The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to a conflict. 5. Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help. 6. For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs. 7. Next Thursday there will be try-outs for the choir. They need all the help they can get. 8. At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be "What Is Hell?" Come early and listen to our choir practice. 9. The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon. 10. Ladies Bible Study will be held Thursday morning at 10 AM. All ladies are invited to lunch in the Fellowship Hall after the B.S. is done. 11. Low Self Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 PM. Please use the back door. 12. The eighth-graders will be presenting Shakespeare's Hamlet in the Church basement Friday at 7 PM. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy. 13. The Associate Minister unveiled the church's new tithing campaign slogan last Sunday: "I Upped My Pledge ! - Up Yours!"
  2. Um... I am a writer and I really enjoy words. The post was pretty much an allegory and meant for grins and giggles. Hence forth I will be less descriptive in my posts.
  3. Oh, I tried the "Shop" tab, but it did not show. But I think I might have signed out and not noticed and went back straight to the shop as "guest". Thanks! Well, I am going to go by my local meeting place and buy one an enjoy some immediate gratification.
  4. Melissa, Thanks for the slider. I have not seen them in a while and totally forgot about them. I'm going to print it out and it should come in handy when I am not around a computer. A found out a neighbor is going to the meetings. She said she can pick one up for me. Thanks again.
  5. Carol I read a thread that mentioned you had been doing Callanetics. I had that tape years ago and it was so hard, but the results seemed to be impressive. How is that working for you and have you tried any of the updated DVDs?
  6. I have read the first three bites are the most enjoyable. I have always noticed that I eat less and are more satisfied if I eat slowly. Europeans tend to eat slower and enjoy their food more. They can take hours to finish dinner. There is a lot of conversation and interaction. I was in Europe for 5 weeks when I was in college and it seemed it took everyone forever to eat. I would be thinking, "I'm done, lets go, come on. Sheesh are we going to sleep here?" and then I slowed down and got into their way of eating. I wish we had more time here in the states to do that.
  7. I am doing my program through weight watchers online. They don't offer the calculator, that I can find, you have to go to a meeting. Does anyone know where they might sell them. I can get one off ebay, but the price is ridiculous. I suppose I could go to one of the free trial meetings, but I don't know if they will let me buy a calculator.
  8. Okay, glad it is not just me. I thought it was something I ate, but my kids ate the same foods and they had no problem. Sure makes me think twice about going to hog wild.
  9. For me it helps to have foods on hand that are easy to quick/easy or both. Try finding the thread on "5 core recipes you can't live without". For instance I eat core pie almost everyday. It is just 2 crushed graham crackers, pudding and a tablespoon or two off ff whipped topping. Sometimes I also add sliced bananas. I change the flavors all the time and it really helps keep me on program. Find the recipes you love and make sure you have the ingredients on hand after that. Try one or two a week so you can add to your favorites.
  10. Boy was I feeling bad when I went off program after I was seduced by the Chocolate Molten Cake last week. I was so sick to my stomach the next day and felt like I had a hangover. Has this happened to anyone else? You guys said I should take what I learn from the experience and I learned it was sooooo not worth it. This was me the next day. Bleck (not sure if that's how you spell that sound) LOL
  11. You were pretty before, when you were carrying extra weight, but the transformation in your face and complexion is amazing after losing weight! You are really beautiful. Thanks for inspiring us.
  12. All you guys had good answers and make me motivated to start with a new day. And I have learned alot! I learned that after eating core for 5 weeks and going off program by going wild makes me violently ill the next day. I have been laying on the couch all day clutching my belly and feeling ill just thinking about food. Curse you chocolate molten cake! You seduce me with your sweet aroma, luscious ice cream filling and dripping hot fudge and then betray me in so many ways. The next time I stray from the path it will be with a friendlier and less exotic type- a real sugar snow cone. Ug, This is like a food hangover.
  13. I have done really good for the last 5 weeks and then I went to Chili's w/ family last night. AHHHHH! Totally off program. I need some butt kicking. I chowed on non-core dinner and then shared molten chocolate cake w/ my kids. My mom has been in town and I went off program for dinner the night before (minimal damage) and I swear it totally screwed my blood sugar up. I was so hungry the next day (yesterday). I am so getting back on today. Just venting and feeling disgusted with lack of self control. Any hints on getting back on the wagon after falling off?

  15. I just made the chocolate cake from the "5 recipes you can't live without" thread. It is pretty good. It is like chocolate cake with oatmeal and it is very filling. This will be a nice addition to my usual to my weekly regulars.
