  1. Bobby

    Couch to 5K

I did W1D1 today and it went great. I am happy to finally have started. Just so you know, there is a podcast that has music. I downloaded them and was presently surprised as the music was just upbeat. This gentlemen was also quite encouraging throughout. Search for "Podcasts for Running" in iTunes and you should be able to find it. They are by Robert Ullrey. HTH, Suzanne
  2. Does anyone know what the nutritional information is for the Taco Time breakfast items. The item I would like to find the points for is the small salsa, egg and cheese breakfast burrito. My guess is 5, but I would like to know what others have found or have calculated. Soft taco shell - 2 Cheese - 1 Egg mixture - 2 Salsa - 0 Thanks, Suzanne
  3. Thanks again for the info. and support. My plan is to only use protein shakes, but I also bought some powder for meal replacements if that is what would work best on a certain day. Off to my WW meeting tomorrow! Thanks again, Suzanne
  4. Sorry for not replying sooner. I posted this question then went away for a week thinking I would have internet access. I didn't, so I am just getting to read your comments now. Thanks Jennifer for your detailed response. I am going to run those calculations and see where it gets me. I calculated the 1300 calories = 29 points based on a week of keeping track of calories, fat, carbs, protein and points. The general consensus was this correlation. I know that I should just trust the WW system because I know it works, but I just wanted to double-check as I don't want to starve my body and make the situation worse. Some days I find it really hard to get all my points in (currently 22) - this is especially true on those days where I exercise intensely. I will really focus on getting some of those APs in though - perhaps it will have to be a protein shake, but at least that is some good protein. Thanks again for your comments, Suzanne
  5. I started attending a bootcamp this week and it's been the hardest workout that I have ever done. I couldn't walk probably for 4 days after the first few sessions! Now, for my question. If you workout intensely do you find that you get enough food with WW? My trainer is trying to convince me to eat 1300 calories/day w/ 40% protein. If I track calories beside Points, I find that 1300 is close to 29 points when I get 22/day. I have been successful on WW in the past when I don't use too many of my Points Allowance. I have never worked out this hard though. Perhaps I should stay with eating at my Target and get extra food through APs? I would love your thoughts. I want to make sure I am giving my body what it needs to recover, but also believe in WW and that fact that it works. HELP! Suzanne
  6. Hi FIRMies, I hope it's OK if I join you. I am really excited - I finally found the FIRM here in Canada (Linens n' Things for other Canadians who may be looking). I bought both the TransFIRMation and Body Sculpting System, so hopefully this will be a good start. I just completed the High-Def Sculpt and was really happy with the workout, although no weights was too easy so I will add some for the whole workout next time. My plan is to follow the workouts in the Jump Start Calendar (although it may not be on the same days), and continue walking 3-5 km as often as possible. I personally can't identify which days I will do what workouts as my schedule often changes, but for the week I will commit to 5 the FIRM workouts and 3 walks. Sun - High-Def Sculpt Mon - Have a great week. Suzanne
  7. I guess I should have been more clear. The beef I get is home raised, home butchered and home processed. My DH's dad used to own a butcher shop, so he still does it all himself.
  8. Thanks for the replies. I also asked my WW leader on Mon. and she thought it would be considered "lean". One of the ladies in my meeting had a great idea. She recommended I take a look at the labels in the grocery store and judge the whiteness of the meat and then come home and compare. I think that would give me a good sense as well. I thought 70% lean was probably too low (especially when a dish I made came out at 13 points/cup). I will be counting this particular dish as 6 points/cup (lean in the WW book) until I know otherwise. It is just ground beef, onion, tomato soup and kernel corn with some vinegar and Splenda brown sugar, so counting the beef points in a conservative estimate. We serve it over pasta, so I prefer limiting myself to 1/2 cup of pasta with a cup of sauce. Thanks so much, Suzanne
  9. Hi Sheila, I am happy this has helped you - it's nice to know you aren't the only one, hey? Good luck with your trip. In my opinion, not much is worth eating given the disappointment I feel in my self after. I know that over Christmas I will have a piece of Nainamo bar, but that is planned. I am bringing some 2 point bars with me so I have an alternative that is easy to count. I am also bring microwave popcorn as an alternative snack. Suzanne
  10. The reason that I don't want to increase my activity now is because in Jan. it will be hard to get any in. I have a career where Jan. is going to be INSANELY busy - I don't want my body to get used to a lot of exercise now when it might not get any for a month. Once my busy time is over, I will pick up the pace. I don't know if my logic makes sense, but it's what I have seen in the past with my body. Suzanne
  11. Wow, you look absolutely fabulous! You should be so proud of all you have accomplished. Take care, Suzanne
  12. Thanks Shelly! I know you are right - I will just make sure I stick to plan this week and drink lots of water. I know that I did what I needed to do and know that I enjoy the meetings (although I am not sure of my leader), so I went. It's great to get to know the other members - I am doing this on my own, so I try to talk to the other members during and after meetings! Onward and downward, right? Suzanne
  13. Thanks for the replies. I went to WI and was up 0.8. I know that I was OP, but it is still hard to see the gain. I find it especially hard to listen to all the people talk about all they ate and drank at numerous Christmas parties and still lost weight! Hopefully increasing my activity in the New Year will speed up my metabolism. Thanks for listening, Suzanne
  14. I am looking for some advice. I find that every once in a while I have a day that I just can't eat enough. I am always hungry and no matter what I eat, I do not get full/satisfied. Because I lose best when I don't use the weekly points, I find that these days cause grief with my weight loss efforts. Although I am still following program (i.e. using my weekly points), I won't lose anything. This week, I had a couple of these types of days, so I used all of my weekly points. Today is WI day, but I don't even want to go because I don't want to see the gain that showed my this morning on my home scale. Does anyone else have these kinds of days? What do you do? How do you deal with the psychological effects? Thanks for the advice, Suzanne
  15. I need some help on how to count ground beef. Our beef is home grown, so it is not classified as lean, extra lean, etc. It doesn't have much fat in it and we always cook it well and then rinse it off under water, so there can't be much fat left. I have done some searches for nutritional information, but there are such varying amounts. I was using 70% lean from calorieking, but that seems really high. I would like to know what nutritional information you would use for this ground beef. I generally make big batches of things, so I am looking for NI by the pound. Thanks, Suzanne
